this is a good bait to fish out your opponents spell removal. it is also a good bluff for a counter spell, when you know your opponent has permanents that can remove this with abilities.

I can see this card being a hard lesson for many a new player; accidentally sacrificing it to your own Aether Adept or Dream Stalker is going to suck in particular.
But with or without the drawback, playing a 5/5 Flier for four mana is going to feel so good for a blue mage.
