Definitely a very dangerous card to play. Can backfire if you're not careful.

I like such cards which can help any player not that much, yet this should proof to be useful with cards like Goblin Sharpshooter.

If you don't plan on discarding more than one card each turn or don't mind having such an effect on a more fragile target, i'd advise using the cheaper Llanowar Mentor instead, which makes Llanowar Elf tokens who also provide mana accel.

Combos well with Fecundity and Ashnod's Altar.

Ex.
T1: Forest, Llanowar Elves
T2: Forest, Ashnod's Altar
T3: Forest, Tap Llanowar Elves, Fecundity, sacrifice Llanowar Elves, Saproling Cluster, make and sacrifice saprolings until you find (a) Helix Pinnacle or (b) any artifact source that can immediately produce red mana (i.e. Heart of Ramos) and then Banefire.

If you dump in one of the elemental incarnations or Progenitus, you can go truly infinite.
