Solid card, will do wonders in the early game against utility 1/1 guys.

3 mana for 3 damage, divided as you chose. It would only be better as an instant, otherwise its pretty darn good.

Awesome card, the perfect antidote for those annoying weenies. Sadly not as good now as it its day though, and of course being a Sorcery is never a good thing for burn, so it does lose a couple points.

@ Doom_Lich
That only works if you have 3 opponents to ping. When that happens don't be surprised if you become the next target.

any number, does that mean i can kill 6 Little Girls by dealing 1/2 damage to each of them?

This is the kind of card that is nice to have in your grave when you use Chandra Ablaze.

Yes, if you are playing with Un- cards you can choose to do 1/2 a damage to 6 different targets.

The flavor text is remarkably similar to Galvanic Blast.

As {2}{C} Sorceries with kind of Staple effects ggo, let's compare it to the other colors:

White: Oblivion Ring is really powerful/good, but also a modern invention. There aren't a huge number of White effects I can think of that you want to play at 2C, usually because instead White's going to be dropping big Wrath effects or playing a pinpoint removal spell for C, 1C, or CC.

Blue: Divination. In a lot of ways, Arc Lightning : Lightning Bolt as Divination :: Brainstorm. You would always rather have the older card, but the new card actually sometimes sees play even in competitive environments, and is a perfectly acceptable choice for casual or FNM. Less good in Draft.

Black: Dark Banishing is the new and old standard for Black Removal, as Doom Blade has been bumped to Uncommon status in the past couple years. Because of the Mullti-targeting thing, I think Arc Lightning is actually in a lot of situations better than Dark Banishing, and very specifically, in certain matchups, better than Doom Blade (if you're playing against a weenie deck or a deck that plays Good Stuff but has a low Toughness average, and you're not looking to Axe a bomby Tarmogoyf or something.

Red: Flames of the Firebrand is a modern card that Arc Lightning compares well to. That's fairly impressive TBH. Multi-targeting is just a really good thing.

Green: I don't really think it's possible to fairly compare Red Damage spells to Green Naturalize effects. I think Fade Into Antiquity can Exile Gods, but...
