It's can be classified as instant speed card draw and it's cost can be reduced by Etherium Sculptor. However, the flip a coin thing could get annoying after multiple fails.

this is draw three cards for 6 or more mana.. pretty eh.. maybe useful in monored where card drawing is absent.. but otherwise i don't really see any good use for this

REALLY!!!!!!! Cards that say flip a coin? HONESTLY!!!!!!!! What a P.O.S. Card!!!! I would assume that cards like this would never be made again. Is there a reason for this type of coin flipping in MTG? I could only assume that Wizards is keeping the "flip a coin " mechanic for those people that play teams and each team has a player that plays a chaotic deck just to enrich gameplay very similarly to the Planeschase oversized card mechanic and the new Scheme mechanic. I personally am not very Jazzed that they wasted a Artifact slot on this.

This came in the "doomsday machine" stock Archenemy deck. I had it out at one point with I Know All, I See All in play (my stuff untaps during opponents' untap steps) and hit the ability at the end of everyone's turn. It took me 5-6 tries to get it to work.

It was one of the first cards I took out.

It's fine in Limited when you don't have any other way to draw cards. I mean, it's colorless, of course it's not going to be perfect. Statistically, the draw will usually cost less than Dreamstone Hedron.

Can this be combined with voltaic key to get twice the effect?

Yes, Cade, with enough luck, you can use voltaic key to draw extra cards through manipulation of the stack. Then add multiple keys for extra fun!

pretty bad card, but I do like the flavour, and I also like krarks thumb. cost is too costly though... should only cost like 2 or 3 to play

This thing is just bad. Too expensive and unreliable for the effect it grants. If you want to draw cards, there are better ways to do it available to just about every color.

This should have cost less, for the sake of the coin flip.

Few things in M11 limited excite me more than watching my opponent tap out only to drop this clunker on the battlefield. If your deck has room for this you've either opened a horrible pool or made some grievous choices while drafting.

Flipping coins should be left to the pokemon trading card games ...

HEY GUYS! I figured out a way on making the card useful! You can stack it's activated ability just like Elixir of Immortality since it doesn't require you to sacrifice it! So you could activate it's ability for 2 mana, untap it with something like Voltaic Key or Clock of Omens and activate it again!

It works because it doesn't have the "if you do" clause in the statement like some cards have. See oracle text for Elixir of Immortality and Standstill to note the difference in wording.

Wouldnt this be a fun draw engine if you imprint it on a Myr Welder and combo it with 2x Myr Galvanizer ? Activate it as many times as you want, just be careful not to deck yourself.
Throw in a Palladium Myr to solve your mana problems.

I know its artifact but its pretty far away from Concentrate. With the flip a coin effect, making the activation cost 1, Tap: would be more then fair.

The general playability of this card is just to low as is.

Don't act as though flipping coins is something rare in Magic. There are plenty of coin flip cards out there. Take, for example, Creepy Doll from Innistrad. Or hell, even more recently, Ral Zarek.
