Stall cards like this seldom appear in green. Good with token generators, red's epic spell, anything that lets you play or put into play permanents on your opponent's turns, team formats, non-creature damage sources, combo decks and alternate win conditions.

eh, Fog and similar mass combat damage effects might be considered a "stall" spell/effect - then again, anything that is not sending a 7/7 trampler someone's way is pretty much stalling by typical green standards.

And this was actually a solid card in its day, in a set chock full of overcosted uselessness. I like the Leyline of Anticipation suggestion. Drop all your creatures at the end of opponent's turn!

One of the best cards from the best set post-Beta, not to see another rival in strength and scope until the Urza Block.

Far from being over-costed in it's time, most cards of The Legends set were made with unwieldy and high CMC by today's standards because of their unique win condition ability. Let's take a few for instance:

Johan: Ugly CMC, huh?

Not at all.

This was the Era of Personal Incarnation, Force of Nature, Mahamoti Djinn, Island Fish Jasconius, Lord Of The Pit

The next most powerful creature in this set is a Craw Wurm. Take a look.

Something like a 5/4 for 6 in ANY form that gave ALL creatures vigilance without further penalty was almost insurmountable. In this era, combat was actually a war of attrition(and not parlor tricks), attacking left you open with few options if any.

Let's do one more: Vaevictis Asmadi Ridiculously expensive and hopelessly out of date, eh?

In his era, the only 7/7 flyer is Lord Of The Pit.

He is a minimum of 10/7.

The benefit of saving card slots by removing a Howl from Beyond, a Firebreathing, furthermore doing so in green to boot. Plus he's a Dragon. Plus he's a Legend.

Legends were meant to be unique, that is, that their abilites would not be seen on other cards.

So, I heard you liked playing Angelic Arbiter to stop the game tempo...

Excellent for getting any planeswalker card to ultimate-level.
