VERY NICE. Lol. I saw a spoiler for this and it had the wrong picture lol. It had a chick bending over and an eldrazi token behind getting it on! xD

It's like a Brood Sliver for eldrazi.

Canopy Cover anyone??

@Gezus82
I'm not quite sure how you can call it "strictly better" when it is a completely different color for starters. "Strictly better" implies that it is better in every circ.umstance, which is clearly not the case.

5/5 for just being a living hive reprint that goes oh so well with brood warden (sort of obvious of course, but it certainly does).

@jokergius, ahem.. *cough* that's not what the word means.. got a dirty mind lol, look it up on wiktionary. Means greedy.. or in this case because the eldrazi are consuming other things to make more of themselves.

by the time you get this out you're looking at a 5/4 with trample for 6 mana, because no way will you ever damage your opponent save with a little help. i think making it 5 mana would have gone a long way in having it see play. what, a 5/4 with trample can't be 5 mana when white gets the walletslayer? :P

The synergy with Might of the Masses is disgusting!

Every time it hits, Might of Masses gets better.

The six mana cost isn't as big a hurdle as you might think, since it's a given you already have spawns and are saccing some of them to pay for this.

In a casual game I hit my opponent with one of these that was equipped with a Demonspine Whip. Good times!

how is this an uncommon?I find it just mildly ridiculous.
Does any one else see how this uncommon is a better living hive?

Not sure this is worth it. I suppose with a turn 1 Joraga Treespeaker and a turn 2 Nest Invader you can cast this on turn 3. Unlike the other drones, however, it doesn't give you tokens as it comes into play, and as a 5/4 trample it's a target for removal. I would have liked it for one less mana as a 4/3 trample with haste.

I used this against Jund and it got killed when it entered the battlefield. Plus 5Red to cast is not worth it. It's better to use this with Spawnsire's 20 mana ability.

Equip a Sword of Vengeance to this and have a Doubling Season in play, then attack with it while the opponent controls no creatures or controls only weak creatures. If Rapacious One gets blocked, it will strike first due to Sword of Vengeance, and the damage that went beyond the destroyed creature's toughness will hit your opponent AND get you a lot of Eldrazi Spawn tokens since the ability of Doubling Season doubles the number of tokens you get.

This with Pennon Blade was a killer combo at the pre release. You could also combine it with Raid Bombardment or Magmaw if you don't like having a ton of tokens sitting and doing nothing.

Rapacious One is my fav card in magic and is the life of my deck. I think it's perfect as it is.

One of my fav cards, if I'd had it, could have played Emrakul, the Aeons Torn on turn 8

Somewhat overpriced initially, but keep in mind you get one token for every point of damage that goes through! Unless it is killed immediately (removal, DD or blocked by something big), you will start to get tokens pretty quickly.

Beware of Infect blockers, though.

Would fling work with him?

★★★★★ (5.0/5.0) (1 vote)
@bigdeez no. it says combat damage. that means it has to swing and hit someone on the resolve of the combat step. and to answer your second question, No. flinging mid combat doesnt change anything, even if you swing with him first.

Works pretty well with Aggravated Assault although you still need a way to filter the mana if you want to go infinite. Also it's a fun card to make unblockable, 5 mana chumps a turn is always nice.

This guy wants to swing, connect for a full 5 damage, and then party at the Furnace Celebration later.

I just use it with familiar ground so it can only be blocked by 1 creature.
