Lame? How does giving your Phyrexian Dreadnought regenerate seem lame? 2 life is inconsequential in the long run, if you're playing black, be ready to hurt yourself. Today's standard has made people lazy, vampires got all the good parts of black with none of the setbacks and they even synergized them for you. True black isn't hexmage yawgmoth DD with roflthopters, true black hurts you in order to get your amazing things out, they don't just magically appear. That's blue, and blue trades high mana costs for good things, if that is the kind of player you are, don't comment on a black card. If you prefer Regeneration then don't play black. Don't say a perfectly good card is lame just because you're too lazy to find a good card to put it on. 3.5/5 for black regenerating enchantment.

@openseasonnoobs- Yeah, 2 life aint bad. cmc 3 for an aura like this is though. Thrull Retainer is better overall. Blessing of Leeches is better for rampant anti-removal.

indeed, 2 life isn't that bad. What makes this card bad is the casting cost. when green can regenerate as an enchantment or an instant for 2 mana (Regeneration and Regenerate, respectively) and no drawback and white can do it at instant speed for 1 (Death Ward), this is just not worth it. And don't forget the relative ease of bypassing regeneration with -1/-1 counters and sacrifice effects.
@noobs True black hurts itself to gain an edge, like Hatred and Doomsday. This card hurts you for minimal returns. I see where you're coming from, but this does not deserve even 2/5.

I run this in my pestilence based pauper EDH. It lets me pour all of my mana into a pestilence or crypt rats, and I'm able to do it again next turn.
