No attack from an opponent for the cost of one Plains? Thank you.

Not as good as Holy Day IMHO. Holy Day can be used as a panic button against green combat tricks and has the nice side effect of leaving your opponent's attackers tapped.
Still this is one of those brain-bombs Doug Beyer talks about in his July 22nd (09) article. What is the purpose of the festival? How does it relate to stopping major combat?

Make festivals, not war.

Maybe not as good as Holy Day in a pinch, but it works great with or against some cards.
during opponents upkeep festival + siren's call = your friends hate you

The idea is that people don't attack one another during Festivals. It doesn't make sense with stuff like fish, bears, etc... but in a planeswalker duel its supposed to be two sentient beings fighting. So the planeswalkers are the ones in the festival, not the creatures. And you celebrate during festivals, not fight. Similiar to how soldiers on the first Christmas on the front-lines of WWII didn't fight one another in several locations...
Great with those older cards that kills creatures "if they didn't attack". Otherwise, its another fog-like effect.

Not bad, but Holy Day/Fog are better because you can play them after the attack has already been declared, leaving your opponent's attacking creatures tapped.
@NARFNra: No, it doesn't combo with Season of the Witch, because SotW only destroys creatures that could have attacked but didn't. Siren's Call works, Nettling Imp, etc. work though because they destroy creatures even if they couldn't attack.

For all intents and purposes, Orim's Chant is a better card fr being more versatile. SInce this card aims at having a Fog-like effect, cards like Fog, Respite, Batwing Brume and the like are more useful, since your opponent will have tapped his creatures, giving you a better attack opportunity th following turn... 3/5
No first OR secondary attack phases, punk! Spanks Holy Day like stripper cheeks...

Dear Mr Matt Tabak, Could you please be our special guest to Grand Prix Anaheim? Our fans think it would make for one heck of a Festival. Thanks Jody and Glenn

Kind of odd that this doesn't make an opponent skip a combat phase instead, but oh well, this is a nice Fog variant with a more fun name.

I bought a ton of these back before I knew Holy Day existed. I guess it's still technically better against an Eldrazi deck or something.

Cards like Angel's Trumpet, Arcum's Whistle, Erg Raiders, Mad Dog, Maddening Imp, Oracle en-Vec, Siren's Call, and the like.
