very high pick in ZZZ. In this block is probably as powerful as harrow will ever be

Agreed. Landfall 2 (sounds good as a verb) for 1 mana.

Can't think of a more perfect card for a land-centered block. Well, except Sakura-Tribe Elder (just make a functional reprint, Jesus! It can't be THAT hard to do). Harrow was always great, now it's awesome.

one fundamental downside that my blue deck absolutely loves. countered... aww did you sack a land and get nothing? real shame that is. be careful with this card green players it'll hurt you in some games.

Sacrificing one of the fetch lands like terramorphic and such brings in two untapped lands for something you were going to get rid of anyway -getting it countered would suck however

Question: If you play Harrow and then in response to casting it, cast Narrow Escape targeting the land you sacrificed, to return it to your hand, thus saving it from the graveyard?
IronSavior
★★★☆☆ (3.5/5.0)(1 vote)
Madawasp: Narrow Escape would not save your sacrificed land because the sacrifice happens as a cost to cast the spell, which resolves before the spell is placed on the stack. This is also the reason you still lose a land when it is countered.

so let me get this straight, sacrificing a land is a cost to play harrow, so for instance if I use Wort, the Raidmother to conspire it, I wouldn't need to sacrifice lands, right?

If ur playing a landfall deck this card is ur baby its an instance so i can be unused defensively such during opponents attack phase to boost ur creatures power. Or offensively durning ur turn to deal heavy damage . and with the left over 2 mana which came into play untapped you can use that for another card if u need. Nothing is funny when crashing baloth gets +20/+20 simply cause u played a land and then harrowed twice
Just be really careful of counter spells it will mana screw u.

Great for landfall, generally decent card, only drawback is that it has to be basic. Course it might be overpowered if you sacrificed your one forest for 2 reflecting pools or jungle shrines.

O harrow... So much potential in Zendikar. However, might I suggest something? Mind Funeral EVERYone that runs green is going to have some harrows in their library. So? mill them to death with mind funerals =) O? you don't have any land left in your library? Reeeeeeally?

This is one of those beautiful cards that is great without being overpowered. It effectively costs one to play for an awesome effect, but you have to have at least three mana and one land available (wizards should print more cards with this kind of balance). What a home run.
Klauth, Wort never says that you PLAY the copy (without paying its mana cost, in which case you WOULD have to sacrifice a land), so no, you won't have to sacrifice an extra land. Go Wort!

Continuing what Donovan_Fabian said:
It'd be ridiculous to sac one forest and grab 2 terramorphic expanse and then sac those for more lands, effectively doubling the landfall bonuses.

you know the only thing better than casting Harrow in a red green blue landfall deck? casting 2 in one turn. Wizards really should of realized what would happen when the lands come into play untapped

Hmm useful together with Khalni Heart Expedition.. Have 4 of each and a load of forests and possibly some play-land-from-graveyard cards
Getting countered hurts, but probably not more than stacking landfalls like you're on fire. And I'm sure there are even more lands besides those that have already been mentioned that would love to come out and play with it.

Question: if I Cascaded into Harrow - Or cast it by some similar means, would I still sac a land?
(I'm assuming not currently)

Blatantly obvious combo with landfall. Serve it up to any creature with that mechanic and watch the death begin.
As a straight land-fetch, not as cost effective as other alternatives including Rampant Growth.

Im surprised no one here thought of attaching Zendikons, so when you sac the land, it goes back to your hand. And you can also attach Zendikons toTerramorphic Expans or Evolving Wilds
searing blaze during your opponents turn, rework land colors for a five color deck, basically play any cmc 2 card while getting a land, great for three color aggro decks and landfall. I love this card.

@Gezus - you couldn't play it, since it's an additional cost
@megiddo - You would still have to sac a land. Cascade lets you cast it without paying its mana cost, but you still have to pay any additional costs.

@DominusNox: Good thing Harrow can be played as an instant which usually a blue player will not wan tto counter,.
I don't like that you sac the land... but it is nice that the lands you get come into play UN-tapped. Very rare there and very good. :)

I usually prefer this to Cultivate, especially so in a landfall theme. Plus it's instant-speed, so depending on what's on the field you can get extra counters for your expedition, extra blockers from Rampaging Baloths, a freaking scary temporary upgrade for Baloth Woodcrasher, or a bit extra life from Grazing Gladehart, all on your opponent's turn. Not too shabby. Plus I usually like getting lands on the field faster as opposed to slower. Counters hurt but in a good mana accel deck it won't be missed that much most of the time.

Any smart player will just Counterspell or Negate this, and you'll have wasted your land, your mana, and your card in hand. The good news is, it's an instant, unlike nearly every other ramp spell out there. It's best played on your opponents' turn in response to something he plays, especially in the first two or three turns of the game when he'll probably be tapped out.
ALWAYS sideboard Cultivate if you are using this. Just in case you're up against a control deck.
Also Turn 1: Forest, Llanowar Elves Turn 2: Forest. On their turn at the end cast Harrow and then Ashcoat Bear Turn 3: Forest. 5 mana turn 3. Cast a Garruk, Primal Hunter and get your nice 3/3 beast.
End of turn 3, your field is Garruk, Llanowar Elves, Ashcoat Bear, a 3/3 beast token and 4 lands.
Play in a Yeva deck, add in a few Silverhearts.
Done.

This can be pretty hilarious in a green/blue deck. Let's say that you have three forests untapped and no islands untapped. So...
Opponent: "I cast !"
You: "In response, I cast Harrow."
Opponent: "Uh, what?"
You: "So I'll sac a forest... and search for two islands."

T1: Forest
T2: Forest, Khalni Heart Expedition
T3: Forest, Harrow= Sacrifice 1 land, add 2 forests from Harrow and remove counters from Khalni Heart Expedition to get additional 2 lands
(So you have 6 lands in total on T3)
(I'm assuming not currently)
