wish this was target player, would make it more interesting. still five mana to draw four cards is not too bad, and great with any graveyard recursion, reanimation retrace flashback etc. etc. its the multicolor requirement that hurts its playability.

I don't think the mana cost hurts it as much as the random discard.

Other people seem to have been unconvinced by this card but I like it a lot. I've had a very hard time making an unearth deck which wins and this card boosts any such deck, no question.

i agree the random discard is the weekness of this card, and it may be the only weekness because imagin if u have one card in your hand and u are out of strategy, this can help a lot ,but still this random discard is a very serious setback

At instant speed it could be the bomb. As it is, you will not be able to do much with the new cards after paying five mana for this.

@davidhuman: If this was target player it would be murder with the Megrim / Underworld Dreams combo. If they had a hand of 4 or so, they would take 21 damage. Alternately, 2 Megrims would deal 28 damage.

Why are people so hung up on the random discard? If you have no way to benefit from having cards in your graveyard you wouldn't play this card. Sure it would be better with chosen discard but "Discard your hand. Draw four cards." would be worse.
By seen this as a control deck, the "discard at random" has no problem, the problem is the "discard your hand", and yeah: its casting cost could be more reasonable. Seen it as an aggro/unearth deck, I'd say "discard your hand" and then 3 more cards could be an HUGE pump up, regardless you still draw another 4 cards; but still, for 5 mana you could just discard your hand, discard 3 at random and draw 4 cards with much less casting cost... I think it should be just {U}{B}{R} or at least not to be a sorcery.

I really wish this had been target player instead of only yourself. That would have been a brutal finisher for my forced draw/discard deck what with multiple underworld dream/megrim/spiteful visions out.
I have 4 copies of this card in my shared fate deck, playing this with shared fate in play, I discard my hand, I exile 7 cards from someone's library, and discard no cards at random from my empty hand, great way to grab a handle on your opponents deck

It's not a great card, but I think it's underrated. Maybe because it's phrased like this instead of "Discard your hand. Put three cards from the top of your library into your graveyard and draw four cards." Which is essentially the same. And in the right deck (hello, Grixis colors? graveyard shenanigans anyone?), feeding your graveyard with 3+ cards in addition to the card draw just might be worth the higher/more mana-intensive cost. By the time you'll usually be casting this, your hand will probably be quite small anyway.
I love it. to basically draw FOUR cards and mill yourself for three on turn five. Card advantage with a twist. Getting all three colors by turn five shouldn't be much of a problem as long as you have a good landbase, and by turn five your hand needs refilling so the "Discard your hand" clause seems irrelevant.
As far as the "discard three cards at random" part... why anyone would really fret over three cards going to the graveyard (especially in a grixis deck of all things) is beyond me. Lets face it - if losing three cards totally breaks your strategy, you were probably doomed to begin with.
It goes without saying that this targets casual game tables over professional ones, but its things like this that made me fall in love with magic and the color black. It's always a bit of a gamble, and in the right deck its setback can be benefitted from providing your graveyard doesn't mind being full. Would have been nice if it were "Demon themed" to fit the flavor of it's "all or nothing" mechanic.
Overall, I'd say the pros far outweigh the cons when it comes to getting nice late-game card advantage like this. Getting all hung up on the minor setbacks makes you forget how important that can be. Play like you got a pair, and be rewarded. 5/5 for casual :)

If you just want a draw spell, use Tidings. This should literally never be used outside a deck that can really take advantage of sending 3-7 cards to the graveyard.

Works with any graveyard recursion, nets you 4 cards off an empty hand, and triggers any drawing triggers you've got, if any.

Fun in Burning Vengeance decks, provided you've packed your deck with flashback cards.

4 cards in hand and 3 into the graveyard - what's not to love?!

I agree with people saying this is great in casual. I think nemokara hit the nail on the head. Why would anyone care about the random discard? Might as well be "Discard your hand, put the top three cards of your library into your graveyard and draw four cards" This is card advantage. (Unless you for some reason insist on playing this with a full hand) I assume the discard is there because this came in a set where black red and blue played the reanimation game and this could fill your graveyard AND hand.
The only time this would be worse than that would be against megrim or underworld dreams decks, but any card that triggers on draw would make this BETTER. I think this card is maybe even my favorite in the set. It might not be overly powerful, but it's fun and flavorful!

I wondered why it didn't just have you draw four cards before I realized it was Grixis.

It certainly does appear drastic. I would definitely run this, were it an instant. Leyline of Anticipation to set up some quick disasters?

Library of Leng: draw 7 cards, then put 4 into your hand and discard the rest to the top of your library in any order.

The Megrim/Underworld Dreams combo would work by using Hive Mind
