This card really sucks. I don't really like this card. I just wish you create a super ultra mega rare card and make this one a super ultra mega rare card. ...A card you'll never get.... I don't know why the RND team bother to create this stupid card....

I concur, this card truthfully does suck. Why was this thing given a drawback, when it was already a 4/5 for six mana? Was somebody brain-dead when they thought, "hey, lets make an insignificant unplayable creature"?
the arts really sick one the plus side great attention to detail in the body

It's a serpent that can attack an opponent without islands! Clearly this more than makes up for its cost for a 4/5!

use a goliath sphinx for 1 more mana, and you will get +4 +2 and flying

It's a common; (shrug). They put out cards like this in every set, no big shocker. He's basicaly like the old-school Sea Serpent.
Not worthless, but certainly not good for the 6CC you're paying.

The art is bland, and it is just boring all together.

there are a lot of really *** alara commons. Vectis silencers, Viashino skeleton, Undead Leotau, the list goes on. Its like a block where they made 8 or 9 cards truly worse than Chimney Imp. Buy a Tournament Pack and look through it. Examine every card carefully. Yet there are some really good commons too, like qasali pridemage.

I'm pretty sure a Steelclad Serpent would just sink and die.

The artwork makes me think it's should have the creature type sliver, then at least it could potentially be used..although even then i wouldn't run it in a sliver deck.

Honestly, why are people rating this so low? It's a 4/5 for 6, it's blue, and in the right deck, the drawback really doesn't mean anything... surely it should be at least 2/5, or am I missing something?

Would have been cool if they just made him a Vanilla 4/5 for {5}{U}, but with the drawback on him they really should have given him another ability. Maybe the same ability that Scrapdiver Serpent has or even Islandwalk.

GrimjawxRULES: You answered your own question five words after you asked it. It's a 4/5 for 6 with no abilities. That's already beyond terrible. Adding a drawback onto it isn't helping anything. Compare it with, say, Frost Titan... 6/6 for 6, also in Blue, only one more coloured mana, not vulnerable to artifact destruction, a great ability, semi-shroud, no drawbacks.

Horrible, and strange beyond belief.
It is nuts enough that Serpents need foes to have Islands to attack (while no other aquatic creature does, and land creatures aren't inhibited by the Islands, etc.), but what does this represent? That Serpents can't find their foe unless they are led there by an artifact?

Wow, this is really bad. You can't even make the case that "any color deck can run this in limited because it's an artifact". It's basically an unplayable Blue 6 drop. Ugggg...

@Henrietta: Nice job bashing a common by comparing it to an overpowered mythic rare, even though Frost Titan is, admittedly, the least overpowered of its cycle. This is simply a card designed to be a Limited filler, nothing else, and in that role, it really isn't that bad, as Esper didn't have many fatties at common. It definitely isn't at the level of Bog Hoodlums, at the very least.

While this card IS terrible, it is still better than most islandhome creatures. Keep in mind that it doesn't care about what your opponent has. It only cares about whether YOU control an artifact or not.
