One of the most obnoxious cards ever printed. That makes it a 5/5 right there.

Is the "mutamorphed" Mutavault colorless, or according to all types, it becomes each color creature?

Mutavault gains all types, not all colors. It remains colorless unless another card gives it a color.
Types and colors are not the same thing.

if i have mutavault out and i have a Kazandu Blademaster when i morph the mutavault in to the 2/2 creature with all creature types does the Kazandu Blademaster's ally ability trigger?
demonixx
★★★★☆ (4.1/5.0)(7 votes)
I'm almost sure that the answer is no, the Blademaster's ability will not trigger because an ally isn't coming into play. the Mutavault becomes an ally (among other things) but since it was already in play, the ability is not triggered. HOWEVER, any ally ability that counts the number of allies in play can be helped by using mutavault's ability.

The fact is, Mutavault doesn't need the tribal synergies to be good; IT'S A MANLAND!
That being the case, not coming into play tapped, and the dozens of practical tribal applications turned what would have already been a great card had it become a typeless manland, into an amazing card.

a cute little thing to do with this guy is combine with cards that would normally have unplayable drawbacks like Mark of the Oni, since it doesn't check until the beginning of the end step.

interesting. If you need something that depends on creature types, you can turn it into a creature just by itself. Plus, it's a manland, so it is great all around.

@Gezus82: A Manland is good. A Manland that can be a Sliver, or an Elf, or an Ally, or any other type of creature you might need is VERY good.

Sorry, but Mutavault really does need the tribal synergies to be good.
Otherwise you play Mishra's Factory. Although "both" is fine if you don't need much colored mana for whatever reason.

An overpowered abomination that should never have been printed, should never have been reprinted, and should never have inspired another way-overpowered cycle of manlands in Worldwake.
Also Mutavault can't be Naturalized, whereas Mishra's Factory can..

What's that? A 1 mana upkeep, uncounterable Sliver that can tap for mana even without Gemhide Sliver? Count me in!

This has a high chance of getting printed in FTV: Lands.
Mainly because the Reserved List and the known fact that all the cards in the set are already Modern Legal narrows the possibilities to 250-ish, and this is a pretty big name on that list.

Stupidly costed.
Not manawise, obviously, but these things are expensive as hell and I kinda wanted to play with one.

Decendants' Path D: Silly combos behind, this one has about 11,000 different applications. Tribal synergies including Spellstutter Sprite, Slivers, Allies, Elves of all kinds, merfolk, and any other tribal deck make it over-the-god-awful-top. SImply being a man-land that doesn't slow your tempo and can attack on turn 2 just adds to the monstrous power of this land. Are they worth $45? Uh, no, especially when you consider that Mishra's Factory is only around $5. Still a 5/5, though.

@Superllama12: Darn. I was gonna state the obvious there and mention that this thing becomes a Sliver. >_>
As for the card itself, I've always loved manlands, and this one is no exception. Glad I pulled one from a booster pack.

If it's a muta... shouldn't it have flying? And damage multiple creatures on attack?

If I have a mutavault an island and a reef shaman without summoning sickness. I then transform mutavault to a creature and attack. My opponent block my mutavault with a 2/3 (it had flash). Can I then change my mutavault to a basic land with my reef shaman so mutavault survives?

5/5, I reserve the rating for a few cards and this is one of them. Well rounded, flavorful, and not independently broken or crappy. Wonderful card, R&D, thank you for this gift. Which is the only way I'll be getting a hold of this card, I'm not buying it for $35.

@lordlan: No. Giving it a basic land type doesn't undo the manland effect.

You're aware that the land does not enter the battlefield as a creature, right?

It's a shame that this is only going to have just a short overlap with Champion of the Parish in standard.
EDIT: @PopcornBunni-ah nope, I didn't read it properly. Well thats a shame, that would have been a beautuiful combo, still got so many uses though.

Looks like this is coming back in M14. I know some people were wondering why this wasn't in Modern Masters. Looks like we got our explanation.

Glad this is getting a reprint. I will finally be able to get one :D It's funny though because in the deck I plan on using it, it is worse than mishra's factory. That deck would be my Tajic EDH deck. It uses lots of wraths so creatures that can avoid the explosions are very much welcome since they can allow me to activate battalion after I blow everything up.

Hi guys, Complete noob here. Had a question.
I had the mutavault in my land stack area. Paid to turn to a creature and was blocked by another more powerful attach player. Discussion started about if the vault turns back into land or goes into the graveyard. Can anyone help?

@Alaka
Graveyard. Death is death. See Dryad Arbor - that's basically what mutavault is when you turn it on.
Since Mutavault is all creature types it is also a Flagbearer, which means if I activate it as a response to a spell that targets a creature being cast, that spell must target Mutavault, Correct?
