A strong 6-mana blue fatty In a world of Keigas, Guiles, and Quicksilver dragons, this thing can still stand out. The 5/5 flier aspect has been done before without the massive amounts of coloured mana required, but Oona's ability makes up for all of this. Milling + token generation without tapping is deadly.

Oona, Queen of the Fae - The Mother of Us All! Her beauty is spectacular and terrible to behold. The elusive Oona blossoms deep in the heart of fabled Glen Elendra. She is nourished by the nectar of dreams that her progeny gathers for her across the lands. A Legend worthy of her status as ruler of all of Lorwyn-Shadowmoor, untapping with Oona in play is a death sentence to your opponents as she will soon flood the board with faeries to dominate them. She is the Godflower of the Fae. Her capricious children are the mightiest.

Of all cards am dying to have Oona is my number one...she would improve my black and blue hybrid strategy so well it's almost ridiculous. I have yet to get her though but the day I do...I will probably jump for joy...finally another use for my tokens other then -1/-1 counters

Strong color choices with good synergy, and the only downside is she is vulnerable to removal (like all good fatties)

A mill that puts the removed cards safely out of the game and generates tokens equal to possibly the amount of cards removed? You can play it even if you're color screwed? 5/5 with flying on top of all that? What's not to love? Give her shroud and deck someone.

Even in a deck such as mine that uses Scion of Oona and other soldiers and wizards without the blackguard buff I use Scion for shroud instead as well as a +1/+1 boost x3. She mills and spams combined with shroud the game is in the bag. But for all instances counters suck balls which is why I use Dark Ritual x2 so I can use Oona and have mana for counters like countersquall which I use in the deck.
Eep! Love this card. I just wish I could find a way to increase syrengy with her in my limited solid blue deck. But still, its a great card.

She is definitely in my mill/control deck, she is bad***. I was milling so much with one friend that he lost all of his copies of Unmake that he had, which was most of the removal he had available. He finally got rid of her with...I think it was an Oblivion Ring, but by the time he did, the game was already about over. I used Jace Beleren to finish the job.

This is the last card I need for my Blue-Black Faerie Deck.
Honestly, considering I already have 4 Scions of Oona, two Glen Elandra Liege, and two Sprite Nobles, those "little" 1/1 blue/black tokens Oona spawn become quite large as soon as they hit the field.
Image playing against a white deck, you play Oona, which is your fifth faerie on the field, and then you play her ability. Spend 5 on X, and you now have five faeries of around 5/5 strength (depending on what you have on the field at the time).
They're both blue-black
They both make blue-black tokens
They both mill
The only difference is Oona is on steroids.

My favorite card ever!
Put simply, she's a levitating floral arrangement with mind powers and and spawning capabilities that could flip a dragon.
As Oona is a 5/5 with flying and her manna cost is even just at that. Not quite good enough by itself, but nice being that there are so few large wizards. (There are only five other 5/5 wizards in existence, only one with a higher toughness (2/6) and none with higher power, and only one of them (dragon mage) flies and he has a dangerous trigger ability)
Her ability is grand. First it allows her to eat decks and put the cards where they can almost never be accessed again. This alone makes the the star card in my mill deck. (I never even attack with her and my opponents either scream or resign when they see her)
Second, either as the purpose or as a side effect, depending on who you ask, she produces armies of little flying bug-faeries to eat your opponent, or chump block all of his attacks. (I even forget about these sometimes. Even without them She would still get a 5 from me)
And third: Her ability can be activated at the speed of an instant rather or not she is tapped. In this way, I can still attack if I want to, or I can tap her for something else. Also, if my opponent decides to play a Pinger I don't care. Nor will it matter if he uses Pacifism, or paralyzing grasp. Even strapped down to the floor, is still an extremely dangerous lady!
On top of this, she is much harder to kill than an average card. As a black card she is immune to Terror, and cards like it. While as a 5/5 she is immune to cards like strangling soot and a great deal of -1/-1 inducing cards (Last Gasp). In this way, she is quite tough.
The only complaint seems to be her cost. Well here is something: To be truly useful, Oona needs Manna, her 6 manna cost grants that to her automatically.
So, in this way, Oona can show up, and dominate the field in just about any way. With an army of sprites she can eat your opponent alive, with her deck eating powers she can mill your opponent into oblivion, and with sheer brute force she can slaughter your opponent manually.
On a site note, she is also one of my favorite characters in magic (Story wise) As the most powerful being in Shadowmoor. That she is just this good is just another bonus.

@GrimGorgon: looks like someone's gotten his deck shredded to pieces by Ooma then swarmed by an army of angry faeries.
Also, Ooma + Braid of Fire makes for some crazy, ever-rizing shredding capacities. Only downside, your opponent will probably be dead long before the Braid reaches its maximum capacity.
This is in my Top 5 favorite art from all of Magic the Gathering. It is just unnervingly gorgeous.
As for the ability, Painter's Servant, just in case target opponent isn't running a monocolor deck. Then you're guaranteed X tokens.

What was Wizards thinking when they developed this card?
Like a 5/5 flyer for 6 hybrid mana wasn't strong enough when they ONLY gave her the ability to mill at instant speed?
So they figured - let's give her an ability to create absurdly-cheap 1/1 flying tribe tokens.
Then someone else said NO- let's make it the SAME ability, so the mana spent can fuel BOTH abilities! Ya, that'll make it a fair creature cost.
*shakes head*
With the lack of any semblance of balance R&D showed with Oona, I'm surprised they didn't make it ALL opponents get the mill.

The only comfort the opponent has is that Oona is in what is probably my slowest deck. There is nothing not to love about this card. So right in so many ways...unless youre on the receiving end, that is.
"worst card even printed...." Got burned by Oona, didnt ya? ;-)

i hate this card i was in a modern tournment in the final round and i'd killed every deck i went up against with my infect and then i faced a faerie deck first round this came out and i lost i won the second game on turn two gournd swell growndswelll glisner elf mutengenic growth. then i was on turn five and about to cast overwhleming stampead he cast mistbound clich i had to pass the turn he played this generated an army of feries that was boosted when he played glen eldra leige. he then perceded to mall me to death with an army of 3/3 flying blue black ferie rouges. Feries so dominated loyn, shadowmoor, morning tide ,eventide standard why wizards why?

Best general ever - Powerful and tough enough to be able to deal with a lot of creatures, great token producer with a bit of luck & almost unstoppable if you go infinite mana with her. Plus the art is just crazy nice, and... it´s a fae...
But it´s funny... When I join "casual" EDH games, I always get confronted with mass ramping, titans and fatties of all kinds, but as soon as I go infinite with my Oona - weenie 1/1 faeries - EDH deck (even in a normal/competetive EDH game!), everyone starts to get whiney and I get kicked. While the host probably plays something like Heartless Hidetsugu + Lifelink, or Doubling Season + Planeswalkers himself, which of course, is totally ok and still "funneh"... lol
IMO, the term "casual EDH" is actually totally misleading, since it absolutely doesn´t have anything to do with a laid-back playing style, instead it rather should get called "any deck which can´t beat mine", or "format for hypocrites" would also be a fitting term.

Eats decks alive. Too bad faeries suck... Blood boiling, faerie fanboys? Just teasing. So pretty... Anybody who doesn't like faeries is obviously either a pinko commie, or a liar. Either you like playing them, or you like laughing derisively while crunching their tiny, fragile bones. Hurricane will ruin Oona's day on the cheap. 5/5
