The persist is what makes this card....also trample! Just attack and attack

There is almost no reason for you not to attack every turn. Even if it dies it benefits you. Repeatedly.

"destroy noncreature permanent"
Can this ability be used to destroy a Planeswalker card?

I played a guy who had this and an Impromptu Raid. I learned to loathe the phrase "activating Raid". Did I mention he used this thing repeatedly to kill my lands? FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
I love the layout of this card, but hate the high mana cost. It can be tricked out with a lot of cards, but that just means you need to have a second card in your deck just to play it, and it still will die to exiling removal aka oblivion rings/path to exile/unmake where it just works as an expensive land/enchant destruction (sorta creeping mold on a creature). Best when your opponent has a planeswalker out, and of course easier to play with a lot of kodama's reach and cloud posts (for as long as their legal in extended anyways).

Love him too. Get him in quickly with animate or natural order.

turn two, play flash to put down woodfall primus, destroy two lands and get a 5/5 trample, then you could turn to mist him or blink him for additional, but even if you can't, a 5/5 with trample that can destroy two lands on turn two is insane

In another words, its persist on the longrun allows it to destroy 6 non creature permanents
@Duddits: Yes, planeswalkers are non creature pemanents since they aren't affected by summoning sickness

@ Quang: No, persist allow it to destroy TWO non-creature permanents. When a creature with persist enters the graveyard, if it has no -1/-1 counters on it, it returns to the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter. So unless you're using something like Heartmender to wipe away the counters, it will only persist once.
I also think if you give it +1/+1 counters with something like Immaculate Magistrate, it will have the same effect as wiping away the -1/-1 counter.. in other words, I don't think that it would have both a -1/-1 counter and a +1/+1 counter.

I found a nice combo:
Woodfall Primus, Doomgape and Mighty Emergence.
Doomgape lets you sacrifice woodfall primus to destroy a noncreature permanent and gain some life, and since its 5/5 when it comes into play it gets two +1/+1 counters so you can repeat as long as you can!
Oh and Woodfall Primus gets a +1/+1 counter every turn so you will gain more life every turn.

@ GoGo26 that is a good combo but b/c the woodfall primus keeps dying it only ever becomes a 7/7 regardless 7 life a turn isn't bad but it wouldn't go above that

As GoGo26 has suggested, pair this with Mighty Emergence and you're in good shape. But why settle for one sacrifice per turn? With a Nantuko Husk or the like, you can destroy every nonland permanent you want, whenever you want. Plus, you have an infinitely large husk and a 7/7 trampler to keep it company.

"Yes, planeswalkers are non creature pemanents since they aren't affected by summoning sickness"
What?
How about "Planeswalkers are non-creature permanents since they are permanents that do not have the card type 'creature'"?
That sounds more like the correct answer.

@fightfightfight - Stop trying to be a rules authority when you're not completely certain of what you're talking about. I know you're not completely certain, because no one's ever been completely certain of an untruth. And what you said isn't true. +1/+1 counters do cancel -1/-1 counters. Anyone who can look up the comprehensive rules and/or test it on the MODO client knows this.

7 mana for a 6/6 trample is mediocre. 7 mana for a 6/6 trample with persist is good. 8 mana for a 6/6 trample with persist that kills lands, artifacts, enchantments, AND planeswalkers is godlike.

Bramblecrush in a 6/6 trample, persist body. I like!
Goes reeeeal good with Ghave. With the good Guru on the field, you have instant-speed noncreature-permanent kill for . Think about it; sac the Primus to Ghave, Primus persists back and kills something with the +/+1 counter ability still on the stack. Ghave's ability resolves, puts the counter on the Primus and annihilates it and the -1/-1 counter. Rinse and repeat until your opponents hate you.

Almost too good in Jarad Commander with Mikaeus, The Unhallowed on the field. to make each opponent lose 6 life and destroy a non-creature permanent.
Sorry, ClockworkSwordfish, Ghave's ability doesn't work that way. When you activate the sacrifice a creature ability, you target something. But you don't target Woodfall Primus, because the ability only targets creatures, not creature cards in graveyards. So you target something else. Ghave, perhaps. Then the Persist ability goes on the stack. Then it resolves, returning the Primus with a counter. Then you destroy a noncreature permanent. Then Ghave gets a counter. I recommend you brush up on how to cast spells or activate abilities, and learn how to use the stack.
