So narrow it's pointless.

No where near pointless. I have used this card along with Dwarven Bloodboiler for great effect. A definite in a Dwarf deck. 3 out of 5.

you could combo it with a Heartstone and Utopia Vow to add an infinite amount of power to your creatures. and you could throw down an Inside Out to make a massive wall of a creature for one

Goes right into my Red/White Soldier deck. I feel bad for my opponents when I crash into them with this.

Well, I guess we won't be needing this any more with the new Battle Cry mechanic from Mirrodin Besieged, right guys?

Battle Cry mechanic before it became battle cry. Not really that bad, he really needs higher toughness though, you can swing with him then activate his ability and (if he survives combat), you've pumped your creatures and he's untapped. Sadly though he is a bit clunky and at {2}{R} or {2}{W} he's a bit pricey...has his place though sure enough as others have mentioned.

Battle Cry happens once. This can happen several times a turn.
I could see this guy and a bunch of weenies swinging in with Glare of Subdual tapping out the blockers.

Seems like it could be playable in a deck built around Agrus Kos, Wojek Veteran. He'd be a 5/3 on the attack that pumps all of your other attackers.

It's not that good by itself, but since there's Dwarven Bloodboiler, as well as Dwarven Recruiter, you can make sure that you can make use of that pretty synergy in a tribal deck.
