Reprinted again. And with new artwork to boot. It feels like a waste.

@sir_dwar:

This card is for Limited dude, not Constructed. If not for Limited WOTC wouldn't have reprinted this I gurantee it.

waist of time, but due to the fact that its a wizard it allows for slight vombo potential, and it makes a half decent 1 drop...

Nothing particularly wrong with it...

base rating: **

Lack of anything by itself: -*
Offers potential in a wizard deck... slightly: +*/2

final rating: * */2

A 1/1 for 1 is far from the worst card ever. Know your history:

The art is good, at least. And Denizs, if you're looking for worse creatures, try Wood Elemental.

Wow, this is insane power creep. A while backwe had wood elemental as a 4 mana 0/0, but now they made one mana 1/1s! Dang! This is crazy!

But seriously...why?

It's not the worst card ever, but it would be nicer if it had SOME ability to go with the name and flavor. Maybe Pay Blue return to hand. Or Shroud. Something like that would make this a good card at the least. It's just, why would a Wizard with spell books (according to flavor text) not have any abilities at all?

I looooove vanilla creatures, but I don't feel the creature type is right for this kind of card. If he (she?) was some sort of 'acolyte' wizard that had a wizard lord who could make use of him/her, then that would be cool. How would a wizard lord make use of his acolytes? Well first he could do the usual thing of giving them all +1/+1, then maybe you could tap a number of wizards to return a creature to its owner's hand, or some other blue ability. If it was black, the lord could sac one of his acolytes for mana or something.

@scumbling:
Powercreep tends to occur at rare and higher levels of rarity. For instance, look at Grizzly Bears. Now look at Kavu Titan. While many people like to complain about powercreep, myself included, I recognize that it's a part of the game. That doesn't make it any less of a reality or reduce the annoyance.

How can you call yourself a Wizard when you can't do anything?

They could've at least given her shroud, in fitting with the whole fugitive thing.

If WotC wants to make a decent, balanced one-drop wizard (besides the excellent Sage of Epityr and Cursecatcher, it should be along the lines of:

U
Generic Wizard Man
Creature - wizard
When generic wizard man enters the battlefield, either draw a card or scry 3
0/1

Not unbalanced because you'd have to find your own way to abuse the etb effect, and there are better things to abuse if you plan on doing that, and you get to choose between a cantrip now or a small long-term plan improvement if your hand is full. Never a game-winner by itself, but never not useful at whatever point you play him.
0/1 means his status in combat is relegated to that of emergency chump blocker.

PLEASE PRINT THIS WIZARDS

Yes, this is a bad card mechanically: It's Merfolk of the Pearl Trident, with a much less relevant creature type. That'd be enough to bump it down to 1 star.

But the flavor takes it the rest of the way down to a half. Why in the world is a wizard, of all things, vanilla? Just call it "Fugitive", and make it creature type "human", for crying out loud.

Well I can see why shes a fugitive...

She lost most of her hair in a hair salon accident and decided to run for her life fearing the sneers and jeers her fellow wizards would throw at her

@ kanguilla

That is pretty funny, for some reason, I can see the opponent laughing when you drop the wiz down (turn 1), and then Eye of the Tiger playing for the next 2 turns while you attack with it, until it becomes a 3/3.

Also the attacker (the wizard) taps to attack very aggressively, like ARGH TAP TO ATTACK *EYE OF THE TIGER*

There was some legendary wizard from the Kamigawa block that allows its controller to tap a wizard to draw a card. Other wizards (and other cards) have wizard-centric effects. This is NOT a useless card, NOT the worst card in the game, and NOT the worst creature in the game.

Kids are spoiled these days. sc*mbling1: Power Creep.

1 for a vanilla 1/1 of any color seems pretty underwhelming. And this is outclassed by another vanilla blue 1/1 regardless.

@internetNinjacy

I think she has no abilities because if she uses any spells her pursuers will know and be able to find her. So she can't cast or she would get caught.

That said, still terrible.

Um, guys?
She is a human...
R&D knew human would be a bing subtype. Inreality how many one drop blue human wizards are there? I think it is good in its own way. When is a one drop a bad thing to have. One star should be reserved for bad cards. Like um well I personally dont see any card without value. But there are worse cards people. Stop ruining the curve.

I started playing Magic with Kamigawa block. When Tenth Edition came around, I got this in a pack. I think I must have stared at it for several minutes, hoping that there was something good about the card, something that I had not noticed. I did not understand why a card like this would be printed. Who would use it? I guess at the time I was still under the delusion that every card in the game has a point, and if I can't see the point I just have to look closer. So much for that. It's annoying when people brag about how Magic has so many different cards to use (now over 14000) even though many of those cards are either useless, inferior to other cards, overpowered, or practically impossible to obtain.
