Pretty nice little Swiss Army knife of a card. Identical to Funeral Charm, but rated a lot lower--I wonder why? If nothing else, discard for 1 isn't bad.

It's exactly the same as Funeral Charm because it's a color-shifted car. This charm basically shows that, had the early days of Magic gone differently, Blue could have been what Black is now.

really people? it's an instant speed discard spell, why is it rated so low. it even Darkblast small creats or pumps your big ones!

ok. why is this rated so low? this charm is amazing. granted the first ability is kind of useless, the others are really nice.
firstly, instant speed discard on 1 manna is great, especially for blue that normally makes a player draw before discarding.

but the real reason this card shines is the +2/-1. this effect alone is incredibly versatile:

=firstly as incredibly effective blue removal. I don't know how many times I'v used this card to kill llowanar elves, noble higherarch's, birds of paradise, ad that's just first turn plays. sure it's not the best removal but in mono blue I find it very helpful to be able to strait kill things instead of playing around with boomerangs and counterspells, the 1 mana especially helps here to kill the things that come down before you have the mana for counterspells.

-secondly the pumping is very nice as well and comes through a lot for game winning damage. 4 damage from a fantom warrior or a mulldrifter or 6 from an air elemental one of my best memories is stacking 3 of these on an air elemental for 10 damage.

and the possibility of unblockability on for 1 manna is not bad.

So I've just convinced myself that this is a bad card. It's ridiculously good for blue aggro. and blue should not do aggro.
bad card. goes against all things blue. (except maybe the islandwalk)

The best of the Planar Chaos charms is also the best of the Visions charms.
The abilities are stunning: one-mana discard, a one-turn Riot Spikes, or one-shot evasion. I love Planar Chaos's blue.

killing River Boa for is epic

It's alright, but mostly it's really pretty. Oooooh.

Utility for only U goes a long way, though at the same time the effects are somewhat overwhelming. I like it, but it doesn't really scream "play me."

nice balanced card

Instant speed discard spell, that can potentially be a kill spell that can ALSO grant evasion for ONE MANA. Oh, in addition to this it is also a common. I also like white's charm from the set, Dawn Charm

I think there are only three instant-speed discard spells. This, Funeral Charm, and Esper Charm.

Better than Funeral Charm because Island>Swamp>Plains>Forest>Mountain.

As everyone keeps saying, instant speed discard.

More importantly, instant speed discard in BLUE. If you play your cards right (hurr), this is basically a counterspell for your opponent's last card for {U}

This card is great because YAAAAARRRRRR!

Wh- why does the rulings say "this is the timeshifted version of Funeral Charm"? I mean, it is, but that's not really rulings... In which instance would that influence gameplay :P

This is the timeshifted version of Funeral Charm.

Instant speed discard alone would be pretty great already, but no, this beaut sports a few additional options too:
- Kills target creature with toughness 1, ignores indestructible, no regeneration possible.
- Deals 2 damage to target player that was dealt damage by a creature this turn.
- If your opponent conrols an island, target creature you control is unblockable until end of turn.

Indubitally the second most powerful charm - not only in blue - it only has to bow before the mighty Vision Charm itself.

Surprisingly good in ninja decks.

I get that the colorshifting is supposed to show how cards can fit in different places in the color pie, but this card is really, REALLY not blue.

In a way, Piracy Charm is stronger than Funeral Charm in their respective colors, because this is one of the few mono-blue cards that could actually kill a creature or make a player discard.
