This is just a sorry excuse for our beloved Llanowar Elves.

Why would anyone use this?

maybe cause it counts as a snow mana? still would have been nice to put a color to it...

It was common to see this run alongside Llanowar elves in elf decks, relevant creature type and it helped guarantee a good starting hand.

It DOES make snow mana, if you read the rules text on anything that requires snow in its activation ability you will see, "Snow can be paid with one mana from a snow permanent."

Last I checked, Boreal Druid is a permanent with a snow subtype, thus a snow permanent.
Also, Utopia Vow on any snow creature will have it tap for colored snow mana.

Just because the elves and birds are better doesn't mean this guy is badl, especially if for any reason you need snow mana.

'Why would anyone use this?' Because they don't have any Llanowar or Fyndhorn Elves? Or want 12 mana producers in their green deck. Or love elves. It is inferior but good in it's own right.

I can't see anything that suggests it counts as snow mana? Edit: Tomy9898 genius... I'd have never noticed that

I hate the idea of snow mana since it won't interact with any other set.
Now you have to use this card or snow-covered basic land, which was one of the worst mistake Wizards could ever make(seriously, strictly better basic lands?), in order to use abilities that require snow mana.

Ok people... Yes, it makes a colorless. Yes, that colorless is a snow. Yes, most people think that it's pointless. Let me prove you wrong.

Boreal is a 1 drop Elf. It's like Llanowar, but different. While you don't get that extra green, you still can tap for another mana. And since you would have had to have a green to play it, you should be set for your next turn. Unless you just really need that extra green to play your Archdruid and you don't have an extra Forest to play, sure, you might have a prob then. (just play Priest of Titania instead) But still, it's a 1 drop that taps for 1. And besides, Elves ramp off of each other anyways, so having this little guy out won't hurt.

While the whole snow thing can get confusing, as some have stated before, it does tap for a snow mana. (big freakin' whoop)

All in all, it's a good, usable card. So what you don't get the green you wanted. The fact remains, it's a 1 drop that taps for 1. (I don't know how to stress that point any more)

To ease the confusion, I wish this thing had been printed as "{T}: add {S}(snow mana) to your mana pool."

It produces snow mana, and things which require snow mana never require a specific color. In a Snow deck this guy is as good or better than everyone's favorite Llanowar Elves. Outside of a snow deck it isn't bad exactly, though you'd likely be better off running Birds of Paradise or something.

Can I just quote Hoonster?
While I fail to see where any confusion came about (Seriously guys, my first glance at this card and I was like "ehh, snow-mana elf"), but that aside, he's pretty meh. If he had produced a green, he'd just be Snow-Covered Llanowar, but the fact remains that there's little reason to use him ever, outside of snow-decks which are as good now as their ever likely to get - because magic has a problem of inventing new and exciting ideas, and forgetting 90% of them come next block. Planar Chaos was my favorite block because it actually made a point to integrate all of the tangents and stray abilities and themes throughout magic into what almost looked like a single card game.
I know the whole idea since Dominara went boom was to explore other planes without a real central Main plane or story line, kinda, but I'd like to see at least some focal point where all the new planes become aware of each other and assimilate.

@dman2stow

This is snow mana. Snow mana is simply any mana produced by a snow permanent. This is a snow permanent, ergo it produces snow mana. Otherwise it would be useless.

Because of Fyndhorn Elves, Llanowar Elves, and Birds of Paradise, this guy doens't see a whole lot of play, but that doesn't mean he's bad at all. Just different, and with a use that's more narrow.

Well yeah, he taps for snow, but I wish it were Green and not just 1.
