A decent way to spend vast amounts of mana in mono-green decks. Plus, it makes wurms, and wurms are awesome.

I guess making a series of wurms ain't half bad. turn 5, makes a 1/1, but turn 9 makes a 5/5, and if thats all you've casted, you have made 15 power worth of wurms.

They could have just given this one "epic".

Almost strictly better than, say, Ivy Elemental; people are used to things like Feral Hydra or Protean Hydra, though, so this seems a bit vanilla in comparison. Still a nice card, though.

Still like this one better than both Feral Hydra and Protean Hydra. Because its making a token, so long as you buy it back, its not a complete loss when someone yanks out a removal spell. I dig that.

Interestingly enough, in an EDH game I realized that, with Fecundity on the battlefield this card also gains what I like to call cycling buyback for {2}{G}{G} (cast Wurmcalling for {G} with buyback cost of {2}{G}, the 0/0 wurm token enters the battlefield and then goes to graveyard, allowing you to draw a card)

Weird and annoying to keep track of all the different toughness wurms
With Essence of the Wild out, you can repeatably make 6/6s for . Note that these will stay copies of EotW even if the original is killed, but will enter as 0/0s if your only EotW is killed in response. Sprout Swarm, on the other hand, makes them for 5 with convoke at instant speed.

2GG + X for an X/X every turn is fairly friggin solid in mono green.
With a half decent hand in a deck built for effects like this you can be cranking out at least a 4/4 every turn starting on turn 3.
Most of the time though, I'd prefer to draw this turn 5+. Works wicked with Garruk's Packleader though. That has won me more than a few counter-top games.

This creates a lot of inevitability in EDH decks that are G, X/G, or X/X/G.
Even if you've run out of gas completely and are pretty much in topdeck mode with no real way to recharge, having this in hand means you can tap out for a wurm each turn that's got power and toughness equal to the number of lands/manarocks you have minus 4. When EDH games run long, you can be dropping a 10/10 wurm every turn at least. Even without trample or other forms of evasion, that many beaters is still a formidable force.

Sprout Swarm is a better card because it's an instant and lets you cheat on mana with convoke, but, this can make bigger tokens then just 1/1s which can allows you to trade up with bigger creatures more efficiently then something like sprout swarm. Also very good with populate. That being said your not going to play this in a deck that can't produce a lot of mana efficiently. is really expensive in most standard 60 card decks and casting this without buyback is actively painful. Seems good in EDH though like with your general as Trostani, Selesnya's Voice or Wort, the Raidmother.

I love this card! Getting this early in a mono green deck, is so much fun. Only {2}{G} to buy back? easy easy. I had a test run of my mono green deck, that by turn five, I was spitting out 7/7, 9/9 etc wurms, at a very good rate. And I only had 3 lands, and a handful of elves on the field! I don't have an EDH general that would make this useful there for me, but I can see it's potential easily enough there.
This would also be a staple in any GW token deck as well. I love to use Doubling Season, and populate effects make them even better!

Got one of these in my Simic EDH, it's great for making sure you can always hit the evolve for everything on field. 4/5

True, thrown into your average deck, it's an average/good card, depending on the deck.
What most people seem to miss, however, is that if you play an infinite mana combo (which is incredibly easy to do with green) you can put out an infinite amount of ∞/∞ wurms! If you play a bit of red also, you can probably find a way to give them all haste until end of turn.
But even without a combo, just about any green deck with a decent amount of mana can make good use of this card.
