Great dude, sorry, demon who can take care of his foes in "the other world".
I think it is extremely funny that he has flying in addition to shadow, that's just so over the top.

Basically an excuse to make a shadow deck, if I've ever seen one.

A 5/5 UNBLOCKABLE creature (demon!) for 6 CMC? A good card for mono-black beatdown or a possible finisher in some MBC.

i just like the idea that ontop of him being unblockable, that he can also limit opponents attacking creatures, or boost himself.

You could use Dauthi Embrace and this things ability to finish people off late game.

They should make more shadow creatures like this.

Real sad that shadow never took off, at least he is good by himself. 5/5 unblockable fire breather is a pretty good finisher.

Great creature. But he's not entirely unblockable. Each color has a way to block this using cards of only it's color. Blue and Black can give a flying creature shadow, White and Blue can give a shadow creature flying, Blue can give all Slivers flying and shadow, red has a Wall that can block creatures with shadow (Wall of Diffusion) and an aura that gives flying (and cards that take away flying), and then there's Green. Green has; an aura that lets a creature block this straight out (AEther Web), a card that removes shadow (Reality Anchor), a creature that remove flying (Radjan Spirit), a creature that grants flying (Pixie Queen), creatures that can block flyers, a creature that can block creatures with shadow (Heartwood Dryad), aura that give creatures reach, and Flash Foliage.

I once had this creature get blocked! It was against my friend's U/G Madness deck. He had a Looter Il-Kor on the field and Wonder in the graveyard. I may have won that game, but my opponent, The Overseer-Blocker, was the true champion.

I got this in a time spiral booster, thought it was awesome at the time (still do), but I was just looking over it a few seconds ago when I realized it had flying AND shadow, and I cracked up laughing over it

Goes great with Endless Scream. Of course when I play it on him I almost always accidentally call it 'Endless Cream.' Not sure why...

Yes, I realize it's turn 3 and I am attacking you for 6 unblockable. That's how I see many games starting out for me. This will go great with my Dark Rituals.

Edit : WARNING, lots of ranting : Perhaps I should have said "essentially unblockable". Would that have made all of you happy? I know full well it's not entirely unblockable seeing as it can be blocked by another copy of itself. I can't believe nobody's mentioned that yet. A3Kitsune, thank you for pointing out AEther Web to everyone else here. I was wondering how long it was going to be before anyone figured out there was a card in the same set as this guy that was a direct response to him. The reason I neglected to say "essentially" when I first posted was because nobody prepares to defend against shadow decks unless someone in their playgroup uses a (very powerful shadow card such as this one or a) shadow deck. Also, to everyone naming off 2 card combos just to block it, why even bother? There is removal, mind controlling cards, and of course Lignify, etc. All of which are single card ways of dealing with this, not multiple card combos that use obscure cards that have little use. I'm in no way saying this card is bad because it can be targeted by removal, I love this card and still use it in almost every Black deck I make, I'm just saying that people need to stop posting ways that it can be blocked and start putting up posts with cards that have synergy with this one.

Honestly, it bugs me to change my comment, but I feel it is needed because nobody is saying anything useful about this card anymore. Also, Seedborn Muse so you can buff your creature/s or debuff your opponent's creature/s on everyone's turns.

I guess I need to make a shadow deck now. Come to me Dauthi.

I know how to make him even more OP, lolz. The second line of his Shadow Breathing should read 'creatures without shadow get -0/-1 until end of turn.' 3:P

He's scary enough to frighten creatures in practically another dimension.
If that alone doesn't sell you on him, I don't know why.

Very hard to kill with creatures. The only thing they could do to make this cooler is to give it infect.

This is the most powerful creature that naturally has Shadow, which makes it cool in my book.

Can anyone explain me what's going on in the art, though? I... can't seem to make much sense of it...

Every card in Time Spiral was a throwback to at least one previously printed card.

This card references Flowstone Overseer. The Stronghold in it's name is a reference to Volrath's Stronghold, the seat of power for the dictator of Rath. During the planar overlay of Planeshift the stronghold and it's displaced, shadowy contents appeared in the swamps of Urborg. Later, the Phyrexian god-king Yawgmoth would be slain here, rendering it Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth (you can see the husk of the stronghold in the art.)

I really like this guy. I run him in a demon deck using Crypt Ghast for extra mana and you can basically shut down your opponent's creature offense.

Gives opponents nightmares. Every colour except black has really easy answers to this that are typically included in decks anyhow. Green might have a rough go of it. Hope you brought a plummet. Reach just won't cut it this time. 5/5
