Amazing ability, especially since most green decks have a lot of mana acceleration. But overall, the chorus is still extremely expensive and by turn nine do you really need to beef any more creatures? I suppose the only time that would be necessary would be if the opponent wasn't close to being defeated yet.

The flavor text reminds me of Anonymous for some reason.

@SavageBrain89 I have seen this hit the field as early as turn four. My husband runs one in his green white deck. GW has enough mana acceleration to pull it off.

She's a really good card if you get her out early enough. But for that insane toughness, she should have vigilance.

The obvious idea is to play dramatic entrance with this card, then she costs 5 mana, but it requires 2 cards. Then mana accel to victory!

What this card really does is make all those small green and white weenies still playable during late game when you have the mana to buff them up. Although a proper deck would have won by then, but most of the times you simply just can't begin with your god hand.

this card is amazing in a keeper of progenitus mirari's wake deck. I can normally get over 30 manna a turn and this makes all my creatures beasts. Not as mandatory as when manna burn existed but still insanly good

Now that the Lord type has been removed (why did you do that, WotC?), the Chorus needs a second creature type. Shaman fits as far as I can tell. Anyone got any others that work?

Really Wizards? Forestwalk?

Anyone else notice this under the details?
10/1/2005 Chorus of the Conclave's ability combines well with the convoke mechanic, effectively letting you tap creatures to put +1/+1 counters on the creature with convoke that you're casting, if you choose to do so.
Thought that was an interesting tidbit.

Chord of Calling will resolve much of the mana cost issue.

Maybe more playable at 5-6 mana.

Why is it that most of the women on Ravnica never wear any clothes?

Their hair is a mess, and they are way too skinny. They are also a little unbalanced. I'm ok with muscle definition, but in this case it is only the abs, and nothing else. The neck and eyes are kinda weird too. I'm not a fan of the art.
The card is fun though, and combined with Spitting Image, guarantees no dead draws late game. You got a land? Copy something big. You got a creature? It is big.

A3kitsune, I'd argue that, despite many of the other dryads of ravnica being shamans, handing her the Druid type wouldn't be too out of line. Shamans tend to be more GreenBlack or GreenRed, "these are the skulls of our ancestors" kind of creatures. Druids on the other hand tend to be more focused on lands and mana, and she very much screams "the powers of nature will make you strong, as it has called upon you to defend it"

Every time I read this card, I just sort of assume the word "Convoke" will appear on the card. I mean, it's CMC is 8 and it's the leader of the Selesnya. Why doesn't it have convoke? That would take it from a "Win More" card (there are faster and more powerful cards that can be played for 8 anyway) to a powerful card that combos with small creatures and tokens.

Mana cost IS an issue. Whether or not you can get to 8 mana is irrelevant, what does matter is that if you have 8 mana there are plenty of cards you could play that outright win you the game, rather than a horrible creature that doesn't have any impact on the board state the turn it comes into play and isn't threatening to your opponent. That's why the mythic Titans are so good - even though you pay a lot of mana for them, even if your opponent uses a 2 mana removal spell on them you still come out ahead because they have a powerful enters the battlefield effect that immediately affects your board state, and if they aren't removed then they win the game by the time they attack. And that's for 6 mana, not 8.

With that 8 toughness and being part White, vigilance would have helped...

@godmetal101 and Trygon_Predator - There's really no reason to give it vigilance, since you're very probably not going to be attacking with this (barring certain reasons...Overrun for example)...it can't buff itself, so it's really only good for defending and its ability.

With the ramp available to green and the ability to untap (in both colors), there's no reason not to play this if you're allowed; the increase in P/T is incredible and it can help power other fun (Power Conduit springs to mind). Hell, with a Rule of Law out, there's a way to use the probable excess mana you've got there.

@Arachnos: Cheating out creatures with Elvish Piper will not trigger this card's ability, since you have to cast the spell in order to be able to pay the "additional cost."

Love the idea of this card. But never once has it ever done me any good. The game is either over or too out of hand for a creature coming into play with a few counters to turn it around... 2/5 stars. But still looks nice in the Selesnya section of my gold binder....

Mana cost is not such a great issue when playing green. Elvish Piper anyone? That or any of the army of mana producers green has. Plus don't tell me it wouldn't be hilarious to see this:

"My Ornithopter hits you for 8, gg"

@Keiya: I mostly meant Elvish Piper for cheating this thing itself out, since it costs an obscene amount of mana with white in it.

It's better than Emmara Tandris.
