Under M10 rules, mana burn is no longer possible. However, this is still a good card in team games, like Two-headed Giant

Darksteel Ingot is strictly better than this. But i guess this guy is oriented to 'two headed giant' format.

This card isn't very good, but is great fun in a multiplayer game, you can kiss up to friends in chaos, or help your buddy in two headed giant.

One of my favorite cards. I run this in my monowhite multiplayer deck. Filled with friendly cards and no finishers whatsoever.
For reasons that may never be understood, I've won more multiplayer matches with that deck than I really should have.

This lost a lot in the M10 rules change.

Nerfed without mana burn. Useful in team games since you can target your allies, in 1-on-1 though, i'd much rather use Darksteel Ingot

This is NOT strictly worse than the ingot simply because of the multiplayer thing. You just have to remember it can do that:Lost a 2HG game because my partner was short a land and I forgot it says "Target player"

I'm surprised this did not get a reprint in the recent Commander set. Very political, would have fit right in with Zedruu.

Seems like an ok card in a Zedruu deck.

I wonder why they didn't reprint this in Commander.

This card was a 4/5 when mana burn was a thing, now it's just a Manalith with some implications in team play. I gave it a 2, but Darksteel Ingot is the gold standard here

Aw, hexagonal nuts! Vividice beat me to it!
(The same comic store I bought many of these from also gave away Green Lantern rings as part of 2 different promotions. I always kept one when playing a deck with these.)
Better than Manalith when playing in multiplayer and EDH/Commander games.
Jon_hill987 is right, which is why I added one (foil) to my Political Puppets deck. (That and Droning Bureaucrats.) Plus it gave me a reason to "charge up" my Blackest Night Green ring.
Great fun in multiplayer, you can hand out mana grants so people can drop things early on the condition they don't hit you with them!

Um, guys... this doesn't target. It wouldn't technically be a "mana ability" otherwise. That said, another 3 mana color fixer. Pretty sweet one, actually. gotta go with 3.5/5.

It does not say "target player" actually, the ability is untargeted. This means it works even on someone wearing an Ivory Mask, which is advantageous in general since you can use it on you or your teammate even then. Would have been better against your opponent as well when Mana Burn still existed. I wish it was targeted though, since it would work very nicely with Dormant Gomazoa then.

A very nice card for a "friends" multiplayer or commander deck. The amount of political influence you can get from this can be quite amusing. Play with Seedborn Muse or Unwinding Clock for extra friendship :D

@Mode: It still wouldn't work with Dormant Gomazoa - by the time you activate the ability, it's a permanent, not a spell.

Also, very good in 2 / 3 headed giant games.
