Sure it's narrow. But it hoses discard pretty well too.

Took me a while to figure out the point of this - just hold it in your hand to stop opponents making you pick and choose a card to discard.
Nice idea, but true discard decks will make you do it randomly, or prefer you having an empty hand, or so on.

If you in some way donate Saproling Cluster to your another player, you would get a saproling for 1 mana every end step. not the best synegi but the best i could find :P

Uber-cheap splice anchor combined with anti-discard tech. Limited in scope, but in an arcane deck, there are far worse cards to use.

(Thoughtseize, Cabal Therapy, Castigate, Tidehollow Scholar, etc) or discard is really bad (the player is in topdeck mode or has a Bottled Cloister, Ivory Mask, or Leyline of Singularity), and this does nothing.
