In the right deck, devastating. If played carefully, it could win you entire games. Just don't pay 4 for anything!

Destroying all permanents witht aht spell's converted mana cost does not include the permanent being played right? Otherwise, wouldn't that also mean Celestial Kirin itself or the creature being summoned?

Isn't a mana's CMC technically zero? If so, when playing a 0 CMC spirit/arcane spell, would that basically be complete land destruction? Not sure at all, so please correct me if I'm wrong

@gwafa: So it would. Any good 0-cost spirits to use it with?

@littlebeast: Isochron Scepter + Evermind. Gets around that pesky nonexistent mana cost, and repeatable too!
@AXER: The permanent comes into play after you cast the spell, so no it wouldn't be destroyed.

Wereterrasque- I'd put 4 of this in a deck, so I could kill 4 costers by playing another one of these :P
the second would kill and replace the first. handy, no?

Repeatable to an extent, since you won't have land yourself (Unless of course you get a couple Darksteel Citadel out, in that case, win)

huh, i think lands CMC shouldn't be 0, but rather N/A. Same with lotus bloom and kin

Can't this be a weird Armageddon of sorts, if you followed this up with Ornithopter?

@justicarphaeton: Memnite works too :)

I think this card has the potential to be ridiculous as long as you play it in the right deck. The fact that it destroys ALL permanents is just crazy.

Remember: It only counts Spirit and Arcane spells! Also, don't forget the Changelings... and even better, the Changeling Spells. They count as Spirits. :)

There are three ways to destroy lands (and all other permanents with 0 CC) with it:
1) Cast Evermind. (Use Isochron Scepter, Kaho, Minamo Historian, cascade, etc. to get around the non-existent CC.)
2) Turn a 0-CC creature (i.e. Ornithopter, Memnite, Phyrexian Walker, Shield Sphere, Kobolds...; or Phyrexian Marauder, or Shifting Wall cast with X=0) into Spirit for when you cast it. Only way of turning creature spells into Spirits before you cast them that I know if is Conspiracy. You can't target them with Amoeboid Changeling, for example, because they aren't in play.
3) Change Celestial Kirin's rules text to specify a different creature type that matches a 0-CC spell: Artificial Evolution

Hah, Kamigawa block. Rewarding you for killing off your own Legends. How absurd.

I do like the fact that I can use Artificial Evolution to turn all my Kobolds into Armageddons.

Angel of Flight Alabaster to recur your Spirits while your opponent loses his stuff? Only problem being that there really aren't all that many good Spirits that would work well in a control deck that comboed the Angel and the Kirin.

Beautiful name, glorious destruction.

I'd really like to make a Commander deck with this beast at the helm. Too bad good white Arcane spells are few and far between, but there could be a decent thing going with white Spirits.

Step 1: Find some way of casting Evermind.
Step 2: Find new friends.

I honestly have no idea how to even begin to try and use this whilst maintaining the spirit theme. It's sad, but I'd rate this the worst Kirin for being too darn difficult to work with.

Notice that the legendary rule here is mostly irrelevant as you'll destroy this when you cast a second one. Not too shabby :D

If Sensei's Divining Top works with Counterbalance, so can it work with this one. Use the top to ensure you draw the spell of the right cmc.
