Commons are all about limited and I hate to see cards like this get dissed as "bad" when the simple truth is that this is a beautiful card for draft/sealed and a great common card that was printed because of that.

Strictly worse than Dismember, well except for arcane which no one likes.
Just use Rend Flesh if you want arcane removal, seriously.

@Shadoflaam - not strictly worse, as it has Arcane (which you've noted), and a single colored mana as opposed to Dismember's "two". It's worse for sure, but not strictly worse.

While this card is pretty terrible, it gets points for being one of a few -/- effects for which -/- until end of turn ACTUALLY makes sense (unlike, say, Dismember)

I think they could pull off a -6/-6 spell later on...the color heavy mana cost would help, to lower the CMC. If multicolored, maybe CMC 3 would work...like jund color cost for -6/-6. I just wanna take out Consecrated Sphinx without having to make it a Doom Blade or Unmake (or whatever), like usual. Besides, what should I do, as a darker type deck builder, run across Gideon Jura in creature mode? Must justify it costs "more" or is "harder" to cast then Dismember, though, so it must be CMC 3 or 4, but definitely not CMC 6 like this mofo - no matter how little colored mana symbols it has. It is still a black spell that basically gets through regenerate and indestructibility, but it shouldn't cost the same as an inflexible Disintegrate or Lava Burst. Lame.
