I consider the unflipped Nezumi to be better that it's flipped cousin simply for the fact that it's a pretty reliable discarding engine. It's pretty damn vulnerable to removal, though.

Most have that ability "Play this ability only any time you could play a sorcery" because it would be incredibly annoying to be locked out of play because an opponent forces you to discard the only card you have after your draw step. This one can only do that once before it has to flip.

But until he is flipped, you have less opportunity to work "Stabwhisker the Odious" into every sentence.

The thing i love about this card is that after he becomes flipped, you want him to flip. You spend a large amount of mana and turns forcing your opponent to discard, and after his last card is gone you get to put a very fast clock on him. Perfectly designed card if you ask me.

If they spend removal on him, they spent a useful kill spell to kill your 2-drop. Better than it hitting your finisher. And even if they spend removal on it after getting hit with the discard ability, they still get 2-for-1'd. A quality black 2-drop. Pre-Bob, of course.

It is true that once he's flipped he can no longer make enemy discard, but it would also become a 3/3 body with Rack attached, that's good offense.

5 stars for instant-speed discard.
We all know that's what we're really here for.
Necrogen Spellbomb, Recoil, Mindlash Sliver, Piracy Charm, and Funeral Charm also have instant speed. Stop That for those Un-fans. If they are casting, you can counter with Frightful Delusion or Dismal Failure. These do not help if they are top decking though. There are numerous cards that make them discard when enter the field, if you have ways to give your creatures flash. Also, others when they go to the graveyard, by sacing them to another effect, would be instant on their turn. Another option for the ones "When this deals damage to a player ..." you can equip or enchant to make an instant discarder.
