I have a question for this card.
would you be able to gain control of target creature if it is not tapped or say a creature with vigilance
on it?

reason i am asking is because it does say "may untap".

whoa whoa whoa. untapping is a requirement. It says AND, so if one of the conditions is not fufilled the entire ability is countered.

You may target an untapped creature with an untap effect, just as you may target a creature with a destroy effect even if that creature is indestructible.

If you "untap target creature and gain control of it until end of turn", you untap the creature AND gain control of it, regardless of whether either of those actually has any effect on the targeted card. The only real condition is whether the target can be targeted.

@daemonfrog - That would only be true if it said "You may untap target tapped creature...". This isn't checking to see whether or not it was tapped in order to resolve. Is the target a creature? (Y/N) Is the target targetable? (Y/N)

I'm a Wolverine,
And my hatred keeps me warm
A Wolverine,
So you Russians best be warned.

Shootin' commies, drinkin' deer blood, peein' in the radiator,
Look up there, here comes a really angry Russian helicopter—
AAAAHHHHH!
It has been...a red dawn.

Not the strongest bringer (Bringer of the Black Dawn is stronger), but far and away the most fun. And copying him (Spitting Image) is very exciting. He doesn't need a sacrifice outlet, but they are certainly gravy. Magmaw is good on its own, and kicks this up a notch.

I often have him out on turn four if not turn three with Birds of Paradise and Darksteel Ingot depending on the lands I draw.

I've also been sad to draw him late and only have four colors...until I realize that I can pay full price!
