Infinity combos are implemented usually to crush your opponent right then and there , or very soon. I prefer the instant win, do or die tactic. Two cards, one of two outcomes if they resolve. Lich andMirror Universe. If you have enough cards to draw equaling the gained opponents life total, you have a wide stare and dropped jawed opponent looking at his 0 life total. Even if you deck yourself, your opponent is impressed they would have lost if the inability to draw a card hadn't resolved.
This is a great card with a ton of flavour, we need more cards like this in modern sets. Not cheaper rehashes of the same old boring "all elves get retardedly big".
You wouldn't be able to deck yourself in a 2 player game. Mirror Universe resolves, opponent loses all life and you gain that much. Lich's card draw goes on the stack but before it resolves your opponent loses the game as a state based action.
And holy crap, Repay in Kind. I have to get some of these things to play in multiplayer, just to be a complete douche baguette. God dammit what a cool card.

Donate this to your opponent and see the look on his face.

@Ryney
Do you mean the look on their face when they realize you have just committed suicide by giving up control of Lich? You'll lose the game as a state-based action for having 0 life as soon as Donate resolves unless you have something like Platinum Angel out.

...holy crap. Pulse of the Fields. Wow. That's stupid. Add a Delaying Shield so you don't have to sac stuff, and a Greater Auramancy to keep a Disenchant from ruining your day. Yes, I know it's a lot of cards. But wow! Even just the Pulse is really, really silly. Also, Transcendence is interesting with this, for both flavor and mechanical reasons...

Naturally the card with this specific multiverse ID is very black

obsolete with Oblivion Ring.
However it was once a very powerful card, still one of my favorites. It taught me how black can be deceptfully powerful

This would be Multiverse ID number 666. Fitting.

Oh, wow... this *is* card ID 666. Unreal...
Great concept for a card, and far better than failed later concepts where you get to start the game over with nothing if you lose, which basically means you lose again a few turns later. Fun concept worthy of being revisited.

Damn it. I'm typing in odd multiverse IDs so I can make witty comments regarding them on the card, but someone's always beaten me to it >_>

"Note that usually you will have 0 or less life at the time Lich leaves the battlefield causing you to lose as a State-Based Action before the last ability can even go on the stack."
Yep, that's kind of redundant.
Though there may be some way to break it?

So it says, "when you cant sac perms, you loose the game"... Is that even possible to go off?? This is a permanent after all... And if this hits the graveyard, your toast anyways so whats the point of the 4th ability.
TheWrathOfShane : Maybe Richard Garfield foresaw a card that will prevent you from sacrificing permanents 20 years ago!

Even as a kid back in 1996, this was my favorite card. It demands to be built around, and has such pure black flavour. "Can you take command of the power offered or be made easy pickings through your amateurish attempt?" Another one of those cards that exemplify the golden rule of Magic: the card trumps the rules.
You know why I can go to zero life and not die?
A freakin wizard did it!!
EDIT @Sumai Yes! I have an Esper Lich/Mirror Universe EDH deck, in that format only once would I have decked myself. Usually after killing one opponent and drawing cards equal to his life total I drop a Promise of Power, get my 50/50 flying demon token, equip those Lightning Greaves, go for kill two then Time Warp for kill 3.

@Lord_of_Tresserhorn: I'm not sure if this is what you mean by "breaking it", but the main way I could think of that would make the fourth ability matter is if you created a token copy of Lich (possible with Liquimetal Coating + either of the Tezzerets + something like Rite of Replication. Nothing like that existed when this card first came out though (as far as I know) so it used to be totally redundant.

I think not.
Your comment made my day! :)

How about just slapping this into a vampire deck with stuff like Child of Night and Vampire Nighthawk? Yes?? No???
