Just horrific! The creature in the picture looks like bubblegum just exploded all over it's mouth, ... and it's smiling awkwardly!

Not only is the picture terrible but this piece of junk 2/2 flyer is a RARE in a set with so many other great rares. I could at least cost one less, or have the discard be random. I would be furious if I cracked this open in a pack of Urzas.

The only way I see this being good is if you reanimate it second turn with an Exhume. Even then, there are many other better creatures to do that with than this schmuck.

If you're making a toolbox graveyard deck with reanimation and recursion he's not bad.

I guess wotc thought "mind rot is three mana, a 2/2 flyer in black is three mana, both together is six".
I think the art is not bad. The thing you see is of course, as the flavor text says, not it's face, but the face it ripped off a victim and holds in front of it's real face. You can also see it holding a mask or other face in a claw.
I guess it can be playable in a deck that uses momentary blink and similiar stuff a lot. But else, six mana is too much. Make it five, and it's a bit like a black mulldrifter.

It gets such a low rating because of the new cards that have come out since it was made. This used to be pretty strong. Now, there are a whole list of stronger cards for similar effects with cheaper mana costs.

I can see this guying being a 3/3 if he didnt have flying. But as is, he is a 2/2 flier that discards 2 cards on turn 6. I agree that reanimating him isnt exciting at all since you are basically getting a Wind drake Maybe for 5 mana he would've been costed fairly but being a rare you kind of expected more than a 2/2 body for 6.
Yeah you can get alot more for your six mana in black... but trust me guys after you've flashbacked an Unburial Rites on this fella (meaning it'll be the third time his ETB triggers) your opponent will know the horror, the horror.
