I read what the card did before I read the title. I literally said Oh snap, and then read the title and loled.

I LOVE this card in EDH. There's just so many things that use counters that the decks I regularly face use. And it just kills any planeswalker on the field with no questions asked.

oh, look... you have a jace the mind sculpter with 11 loyalty, a gideon, and a garruk in play. you been making those 3/3 tokens...

well you shouldn't have wasted your counterspells on my vampire hexmages because now it's game over for you.... I attack for 1 with my drudge skeleton.

Wow, good call with the Planeswalkers.. Yes, they are Loyalty Counters. And yes, planeswalkers are permanents.

Dark Depths will work.
On turn 1 play swamp. On turn 2, play Dark Depths, put 10 ice counters on it. Tap swamp, play 2 dark rituals, 5 black mana total, play Aether Snap, remove all counters from all permanents and tokens (all at same time when card resolves). Dark Depths is a permanent with counters, so they are removed, but there are no tokens to be removed (black avatar isn't on play yet). Aether Snap is buried (it's a sorcery).
Dark Depths checks (right after Aether Snap resolved) if it there are no ice counters in Dark Depths. There aren't. It triggers, sacrifices itself, and a 20/20 indestructible flying black avatar is put in game.

If you play with 4 dark depths, 4 Aether Snaps, 4 dark rituals and 24 swamps, and take the 1st turn (no draw), the probability of having a winning hand by 2nd turn is 44.5% (aether snap) x 45% (dark ritual) x 35.9% (2nd dark ritual) x 46.3% (dark depths) x 99.2% (swamp) = 3,1%

Ya this is awesome my brother has been one turn away from killing me and I've been lucky enough to draw this card a few times. He uses green and Howl of the Wolf Pack allllll the time so I love to see his face when I drop one of these bad boys in his face

Great cards, as I once did, you can empty Dark Depths to get Marit Large while emptying your opponent's Eternity Vessel! Game over!

@CyberClaw
You could also use Vampire Hexmage for that combo (the hexmage would work better, although you could always use both)

Great planeswalker killer, can also be powerful in drafts against modular. (if anyone else still drafts Darksteel)

A very unique card.

I don't like this card. Given that wizards is actively encouraging players to specialise and come up with very keenly honed strategies, creating cards that utterly hose single strategies but are worthless anywhere else seems counterproductive. This doesn't make for an epic comeback, it just wins you the game against one type of deck, if you draw it at the right time.

Might have been better if it was XB remove x counters and/or tokens from the game, or even 3B remove counters equal to the number of swamps you control. Something devastating, but limited.

As someone who has a fairly old collection and can't afford to buy a lot of cards, who plays against a lot of newer players who have newer collections and lots of planeswalkers, I love this card!

And it doesn't just work against one deck, it hoses Planeswalkers off the table, sends Allies crying to their mummy, unscrews Modular decks (I have one of those) and beats up those really horrible decks that produce stupid amounts of Elves (I have one of those too).

Plenty of uses, and even more now that Innistrad is going to have us all up to our eyebrows in Zombies.

You probably thought your infinite-saproling combo was going to win you the game.
Nope, it's just Chuck Testa.
NegFactor

I wonder if maybe this might see a reprint in the next expansion in the Innistrad block. It seems like it might be a great time for it, especially with all the counter/token generating cards going on right now.

It should just read: You win the game if the opponent is playing a Saproling deck.

I found this by looking for ways to generate lots of Tokens. Instead, I find a way to kill lots of tokens, AND Planeswalkers. Excellent, this is going straight into my Black EDH stockpile. I have a feeling Planeswalkers are going to start to see more play in EDH as people try to find an exploit for Sorin, Lord of Innistrad's Ultimate. I'm sure there's a way to do it, we just need to find the right cards...

I would rather use Vampire Hexmage to crack open Dark Depths, but that being said this has plenty of other uses. Plus, who says you can't run both?

So, beyond the obvious combo with Dark Depths (don't forget to add Vampire Hexmage as well,) it also works well with:

Hunted Horror and other "Hunted"s, Roc Hatchling, Woolly Razorback, Etched Monstrosity (in case you don't have the full WhiteBlueBlackRedGreen,) cards with Cumulative Upkeep (resets the upkeep cost, since it is tracked by age counters,) Persist creatures, and Undying creatures. It also has interesting interactions with Everlasting Torment, for better or for worse.

Even without those, it hoses innumerable cards and strategies, including immediately killing all Planeswalkers, as well as gimping Modular, Proliferate, Populate, Evolve, Scavenge, Fading/Vanishing, Level Up, and Wither/Infect (although it won't remove poison counters from players.)

Great go-to for anti counters. For extra token hate, build a UB deck with this and Leyline of Singularity. Everyone at my table with all of their elves, myr, and goblins just LOVE it when I play my anti-token deck.
