I love Mirrodin's artwork of that card, also for the nostalgia aspect since it's based on the original Alpha artwork. I have no idea for what reason they let this card have a new artwork in 9th Edition...

Arg, why is this artwork so good and the others so ass? The original is also decent, but ugh..
I have a difficult time really utilizing this. It looks worse than it is, but it allows you to limit mana production, limit their big creature attacking you, turns off some artifacts, etc..
I hope they make a new version sometime with the Frost Titan ability so it's *really* icy :D
Maybe {3}{U} Iciest Manipulator {U}{T}: Tap target creature, land, or artifact. It doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step.

Such a great card. I always run one in my edh decks. It's usefulness is such that it can be an auto-include for most mid-range decks too. To put in perspective how helpful it can be, here's some pros for this card -
- Can tap Maze of Ith - Can tap Rishadan Port - Can tap Mystifying Maze - Can tap Prototype portal - Can tap Isochron Scepter - Can tap Panoptic Mirror - Can tap Howling Mine - Can cause trouble for a multi-colored deck, if only one land is on the field for a color they need - Can stop creatures from hitting you if you tap them before the combat phase. Good targets for this are Kaalia of the Vast, Hero of Bladehold, Eldrazi creatures, etc. Infact, it is possible to completely shield yourself from general damage with this. - Is itself an artifact and can go into any deck
And those are just a few useful tidbits for the card. Really, the defensive/offensive uses are too numerous to list, and I'm sure people can think of many, many more uses then what I listed here. I can't overestimate how useful this icy lump of metal is. 5/5 forever
