Or you could go the safer route and drop an Eon Hub and use cheap counter manipulation via proliferate.

It's really slow, and mana expensive, and you only get one shot. To do two damage to an opponent, you'll pay 4 mana initially, plus 2 for 1 upkeep, plus 4 for the second, plus 6 for the next, then finally you sacrifice it next upkeep. 16 mana and 5 turns. Not good.
Compare to Volcanic Fallout, Pyroclasm or (especially relevant for the versatility argument) Starstorm. All let you do the same thing for much less mana and with more choice of timing, plus they're less vulnerable.

So let me get this straight. During the first turn it costs four and does nothing Second turn pay 2 or sac it to deal 0 Third turn pay 4 or sac it to deal 1 Fourth turn pay 6 or sac it to deal 2 Fifth turn pay 8 or sac it to deal 3 Sixth turn pay 10 or sac it to deal 4 Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the idea behind this. It's just a little too slow (and expensive) for my tastes.

"Nuclear launch detected." My very first thoughts of this card when I pulled one in a pack. Great with Braid of Fire, Mana Flare, and other red mana stokers.

Very very good, but it needs to be played at turn three or four at most in competitive play.

If you combine it with Repercussion it's not a bad card.

Its an interesting card but obviously way to slow. Plus it can get destroyed as well. The effect can be game breaking, and would be perfect for "battleship magic", both players boards full of creatures, nether wants to attack.
