How is this card red?

because its been red since they made it? duh

Flavorwise I'd say it's red because its globabal enchantment, so red wants things to be shinier, and they don't care if that helps them or not.

...I'm guessing that Mana Flare has been red for longer than allmighty_abacus has been alive.

@DacenOctavio: WotC doing away with mana burn took the thinking out of using this card. Opponents whose decks were not designed to use the extra mana load often faced tough decisions.

It was a great red card because of mana burn. Red had plenty of mana sinks back then, so it was awesome. It put other players at risk of hurting themselves when they could only use an odd amount of mana. I loved using this to power up the Hive.
