A little expensive, but if played right... it can totally be worth it.

Methinks the Sliver deck will be happy.

Very expensive, my sliver deck wasn't happy with it.

Indeed, if anything, slivers would receive the least benefit out of the tribes, considering that they have some of the most efficient methods of mass tribal buffing (Muscle Sliver at 2 CMC, for starters).

Cool in any tribal deck, but maybe a bit overcosted?

I can totally see myself playing this card in a casual deck with some wacky tribe. Frogs, Elephants, Slugs? No problem, this guy is cool!
Is it overcosted? Yes, and there are way better options for all of the competitive tribes (Soldiers, Vampires, Elves, Goblins, Zombies... name your pick), but on the other hand, he's a lord for all of those fun tribes that were never turned into something serious.
3.5/5 for being a fun casual card, although I think it should have retained its old rarity (uncommon) instead of being rare.

How else are you going to make all your Protean Hydra's damage proof by giving them +1 to toughness? A good hydra deck is going to have lots of mana acceleration anyways... If only there was such a thing as a good hydra deck.

For the most part, this has been replaced with Caged Sun in mono-colored decks. It's just all around better. In decks like Slivers, for example, that have several colors, this guy still works. However, in a sliver deck, I'd much rather play Coat of Arms, Mirari's Wake or Sliver Legion anyway.

You guys are forgetting that he can draw you a good amount of cards. For example, if half your deck are creatures (of the same type), on average this guy will let you get 2 cards and give out a glorious anthem effect. Certainly a playable card in casual.

notice it doesn't say other creatures, meaning that in a golem tribal he's a 3/3 instead of a 2/2.

Adaptive Automaton is probably better most of the time. The potential drawing shouldn't be overlooked, it can be great. More playable in a Golem deck as he will be a 3/3.

A 3/3 for {6} if you choose Golem. May work with the newer cards from more recent sets, I'm looking at you Precursor Golem

A must-have for your tribal Brushwagg deck! And don't pretend you do not have one! It is each and every Magic player's dirty little secret. Yes, even those who began playing five minutes ago and don't even have any idea what a Brushwagg is. Poor bastards.

You: Play this. ... It resolves! ... Name "Saproling."
Opponent: stares at you quizzically, o_O. "What? There aren't any Saproling creatures, that's for tokens only..."
You: Reveal four Changelings. ^__^

When I first started playing Magic, this card was the Holy Grail for my knight deck I made with other people's trash commons. Looking back on it, there's really not anything this guy is good for. Since Door of Destinies came out, it's not really that great in unusual tribal decks. Additionally, it's effect rarely draws you 4 cards. Especially not in an unusual tribal deck. However, the card is pretty decent with elves. You can cast him cheaply, and you can easily cast whatever elves you draw off of his ability. Elves also typically all elf cards, even the instants and sorceries have elf tribal attached to it so they're drawable. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm assuming that it will perform similarly in Goblins as well. If you're playing white, don't bother playing this. Just use Honor of the Pure for boosting, or Mentor of the Meek for card draw. Even Adaptive Automaton has replaced this card in many ways.

Only problem is, most Golem decks use Splicers, so he's not that good with that card draw if you're trying to use him that way.
Venser might like him though, and Venser likes Splicers.
