Wall decks are surprisingly difficult to deal with. Equivically paying half cost for all your creatures.

I don't see a problem with a wall deck... there are many ways to win the game, not just kill your opponent by attacking creatures... best example could be milling, and walls are perfect for milling decks. Felidar Sovereign, Helix Pinnacle and many more... also not to mention that there are means to let your defenders attack.

All you need to know is just what cards you should take.

The strictly better Cloak of Mists was available to the Eighth Edition team, but they chose this instead.

One reason is that Eighth Edition included new reprints from every set.

Another is to support the Wall subtheme for Limited play: There were 8 walls (2 common, 5 uncommon, 1 rare), and 3 cards that cared about them (this, Dwarven Demolition Team, and Rolling Stones).

Aside: The number of cards that are Walls or care about Walls from Alpha through Magic 2011:
20, 19, 24, 22, 12, 10, 11, 0, 7, 4, 3 (plus M11 has 2 non-Wall defenders)

I like "can't be blocked except by walls" more than "unblockable" when it comes to the flavor of cards that make things invisible. Normal creatures can't block because they can't see, but a wall doesn't have to see- it's a wall. The guy just can't pass it.
