A really fun card to play in casual even if it killed only your creatures. Gets burned and terrored in multiplayer.

I just played a game with him in play yesterday and he forced my opponent to sac his Sapling of Colfenor. I was very happy.

Like the previous comment says, this guy is a lot of fun in casual. To make his drawback less harmful, try him out with a Grave Pact.

I suspect him to be good friends with Goblin Sharpshooter. the only thing about him is, that he might kill himself when he enters the battlefield.... which also makes him that much more fun^^

This card has great flavor... not many uses, though.

Wow, this is the essence of goblinhood! Play it in black red with a lot of reanimation and he rocks.

Only Red could have cards whose names are their creature types like this Lizard Warrior.

5/5 simply for the flavor text.
5/5 for the fun.
2/5 for functionality.
But hell, who cares about function with this guy?

I think it an ok card but it's an assassin and that does not fit red

Storm into a giant Empty the Warrens, bring 112 1/1 Goblin tokens into play, drop a bank-roll's worth of pennies on the table, and say "get to flippin.'"

He has to be behind the curve, or else the spikes get uncomfortable. Tournament players will play luck cards if the expectancy is high enough, so the developers tend to price them well out of range so that the tournament scene rewards skill rather than luck.

With Siege-Gang Commander, the expectancy is that each player will lose two creatures, but your two are just goblin tokens that the commander made. Mogg War Marshal is also effective, and Goblin Assault is crazy. You might want Kyren Negotiations to protect the assassin from being forced to attack.

5'ed... this is the only goblin that will eventually rid an opponent of all his shroud, hexproof, and/or indestructible creatures. Because he is the only goblin that gives you a chance to remove creatures that would otherwise not be removable (because they cannot be targeted and/or destroyed), he deserves a perfect score.

@anson409

that's the point. He sucks at his job because goblins aren't supposed to be assassins.

He is nothing short of AMAZING in my Gobbie deck! If they flip tails, they sac a creature. If I flip heads, my army gets bigger by one. If I flip tails, I say adios to my torchrunner and let them taste some pain from my shenanigans and shadows!

Ha! That gives me a great idea for a name for my gobbies! The deck is now called Vicious Shenanigans!

Combo with Krenko, Mob Boss. Odds are, your opponent may have to sacrifice a lot of creatures.

Back in the day, this was how my red goblin deck dealt with pro-red creatures. At least until they released Pyrite Spellbomb.

Too high cmc for even a casual players reach. keep in mind i play mtgo so its 200+ dollar decks all day.

Still playable T4 with Goblin Warchief. Ran next to a brightstone ritual you may be able to cast him into a Mogg War Marshal quite easily; forcing 3-4 sacrifice triggers T4, then attacking for 5-6 (without any help.)

Add in any goblin buff card or any T1-T2 drops and the damage can easily be a game finisher (since you just ate ~2 creatures.)

Krenko, Mob Boss and this guy... your opponents might just concede right then and there... or after twenty coin flips or so.

Also, I use it in my Wort, Boggart Auntie deck to great effect. Grave Pact makes it so you don't care about getting a "bad" coin result :)

In the kind of deck this wants to be in, Diabolic Edict effects are better against your opponents then they are against you. The coin flipping thing gives it a sense of red randomness (which I love btw) but, frankly, when you are dumping out tons of goblin tokens in one turn, it's going to clear the path for your goblins almost no matter what.

Let's take a moment to appreciate the fact that this goblin, this humble 2/2 goblin, can kill literally any creature in Magic. Since it's sacrificing, even indestructible creatures can't get around his wrath.

Tajic? No problem.

Griselbrand? Piece of cake.

Gigantic Wurm? Just gotta know the right place to stab it!

A towering colossus of blightsteel that can kill a planeswalker in one hit? Oh please, he's got more than just a knife!

Eldrazi legends that are often mistaken for gods and can make any mortal go insane with the slightest glance? Pshaw! This assassin has had far tougher challenges! Like taking out his target amidst a crowd. God help him if your target is in a crowd...

... Also God help the crowd.

This is probably as close Red's going to be to getting Grave Pact.

But instead of any creature dying, you're restricted to Goblins, only when they enter the 'field, and this can die immediately.

So no, it's not the same.

Speaking of Griselbrand, there's one creature in that very set that'll put a stop to your plans:

Sigarda, Host of Herons

Undying
Persist
Anything protected by Sigarda
Time Stop
Aetherling, and self-exilers in general
