This has much more impact than Scourgla.s.s because it destroys nonartifact lands, denying any answers the non-Affinity opponents might have in the near future.
is an impressive number to pay so be sure to include several artifact mana sources in your deck. Scourgla.s.s is a one-sided Wrath of God, this one should be the end of the game.

it has lots of potential if only it didnt cost so much that by the time you play it match is over

The difference between this and scourglass is that this destroys lands. Therefore, it can really mess up your opponents when you have a bunch of big artifacts beating down because they can't do anything.

Maybe as much potential as Scourglass in a deck built to use it. I mean think, in a dedicated WhiteMyr deck, turn two Gold Myr, turn three Palladium Myr. turn four another Palladium Myr, turn 5 Armageddon and Plague Wind.

Why even spend the three white mana if you could simply cast All Is Dust instead?
The funniest part is that this is from Darksteel - how could one even manage to get half that amount of mana without having lost or won already?

This card is amazing in my artifact EDH. Casting it with some artifact lands/mana generators out is amazing. Being able to mana starve your opponents and clearing the board besides yourself is amazing. Every time I have used this spell, I have won the game easily.

I strongly disagree with Scourglass being completely better. I'm not going to argue a card is strictly better than a card, but both have their place. Personally, I like the glass more because of the cost too, but I'd run this (or even both) in a slower format like EDH.
Sure, the glass might be cheaper, but it also gives an opponent an entire turn to prepare for the wipe (short of Shimmer Myr or Master Transmuter shenanigans, that is). So they might use that artifact removal they have been saving for your bomb or even top deck one and you are out that mana and a card. Not to be one of those "Dies to removal" types, but I think it's a valid argument in this case.
This, on the other hand, can't really have many answers short of a counterspell or some weird mass-regenerate/blink, which both hose Scourglass just as easily so that point is moot. As others have said, it also hits their lands so recovery is just about out of the question. If this resolves, it is pretty much "I win, please scoop to preserve what remains of your dignity." If not, you are playing it in the wrong deck or in a mirror match, which you should have sided this out for something else anyways.
This could have been worse. Imagine the horror this card would have reaped if they put Affinity on it.

This is better than Scourglass if you're using artifact lands, totally ruin your opponents pace while still having lands left yourself.
I had this card from one of my first booster packs. I realized its power but did not like it because it hurt my own things. If I could take my knowledge now back in time, I would make a deck rocking this thing.

People, people. Scourglass takes longer and can't hit lands. If you're running the artifact lands of Mirrodin, Myr, etc. this will not only hand you the game on a silver platter, but will make you the ONLY person with any mana left.

Man I really want to run this in my Tajic EDH deck. Suit him up with some equipment, and then blow up everything except him and his equipment. That's game right there.
The only probably is that the mana cost is soooo high it will almost never be cast.
