Great card, wish they would reprint this card, far more balanced, without being terrible, then the other tutors.

Or Vampiric Tutor, which costs 2 less and is an instant.

I had a teacher who looked JUST like this.

Grim Tutor, one of its many contemporaries, is far better in almost every occasion.

Diabolic Tutor's little bro. Useful if you need a card, but not right now, and have some life to waste.

Amazing that this card isn't rated higher. Especially considering they're about $15, but I know a big part of that is due to their rarity (not just being a rare, but also from portal). This is not the worst searcher, 2 life is trivial, the only part I dislike is not getting it your hand right away. Then again, you draw it and can cast it 4th turn while you would still be searching for it with Diabolic Tutor, so not too shabby. I want some for my {U}{B} Battle of Wits deck, that deck needs many searchers :P 4/5

The only drawback I see is that the card sits through your opponents turn on top of your library unless you can pay for a card draw during your own turn, but if you can then Diabolic Tutor is better.

the one thing that makes this card a lot better than Vampiric Tutor, the fact that it isnt banned :P Vamparic tutor is TOO good. this is more balanced? (i prefer Grim tutor though.)

I usually use this is a 3 or more color deck that doesn't have that much black in it and use Grim Tutor in 2 color or mono-black decks

It's better than people really are saying. If you've got a way to draw the card afterwards for free, such as Sensei's Divining Top it's an alright alternative to Diabolic. I've only found use for it in a Legacy game, though.

I think its expensive because its one of the few tutors still legal in Prismatic. I guess people still play that?

Worst universal tutor ever. 5/5

Because no one wants to shell out $200 for a Grim Tutor.

Very Well Designed card. I haven't played with Vampiric Tutor much yet, but I just bought one and I know for a fact Demonic Tutor is as dumb as Entomb, and they needed a lot of nerfing.
Grim Tutor is probably the Best All-around Tutor. From the perspectives of not ONLY Power, but Gameplay Fun. It being not-banned in Prismatic yet happens to be one of the signs of this, but I'll wager it's not so much that people play a ton of Prismatic, as it is that they play a Ton of Magic in general, and Grim Tutor looks more fun to play than Cruel Tutor OR Demonic Tutor. It's also much rarer than Vampiric Tutor, which has a Core Set printing.
Vampiric Tutor is highly Constructed Playable, but it's also got that Core Set Reprint, so there's a LOT more copies out there than there are of Grim Tutor. I'm not sure what the supply and demand curves look like *exactly* for Vampiric vs. Grim, but Grim looks very well positioned to be in a Sweet Spot. ?
