Was Thrive just too powerful?

Hey, Thrive costs 2 and is a sorcery. This is a Battlegrowth variant like Hunger of the Howlpack, it is a combat trick.

That's a lot of mana for the Strive cost. I'd rather get something simple like Travel Preparations. Even in mono-green, it's probably more efficient.

Panoply means "full armour"
Full armour in the form of +1/+1 counters in this case.

It's just like Battlegrowth from Mirrodin. But this is also coming from the Theros Block, so you have to consider that. This can trigger Heroic, and the green guys with Heroic are pretty good. Some examples are Setessan Oathsworn, Staunch-Hearted Warrior, and Centaur Battlemaster. This Strive is a bit overcosted, but it keeps this card relevant in the lategame when there' spare mana. Not a bad card, honestly.
