Wow, even when multicolored, Griffins suck. Seroisly though, I think this is something I'll ahove to see in action to really judge. Might have been cool with lifelink in stead of vigilance, y'know, tie it all in.

It's nice to see them branch out a wee bit with griffins but it's still mostly the same old drek. One step forward, two steps back. At least the art is fantastic.

Little lifelink oughta fix that regeneration problem.

Its a griffin, AND a skeleton. For doubly infamous bad tribal. This actually doesn't seem that bad, but still.

Honestly? It'd have been great if you didn't need mana to regenerate it. Both is just a bit over the top.

I feel this is going to be as bad as Numai Outcast. They must stop giving the "pay life to regenerate creature" stuff. It really doesn't fit IMO.

This is definitly one of the best recipiants of aura's in the set. Defensive, evasive and able to protect itself.
Plus "griffin skeleton" sounds like a pretty metal band name

GRIFFIN SKELETON!! Wow, and I thought Simic had all the exclusively brilliant typelines.
Scorpion Skeleton. This has to happen, and the art can't show the creature being this far out. It has to be a close-up view, like Giant Scorpion.

Agreed. Give him lifelink and deathtouch with the aura creatures in the set and he becomes a huge deterrent while swinging away each turn. I never regretted casting him in Limited.
@Legendxp
Not really, flying is white/black, vigilance is white, using life as a resource works well in white and is usually a black ability, and regeneration is black.

Ergh. So does not fit with the rest of the Griffin tribal, such as it is. Still, it's not BAD. Not great, but not bad either. Flying + Vigilance is always a great combo, as Serra Angel has demonstrated for the last forever. Paying 3 life AND mana to regenerate something is just painful though.
Seriously, it's like there's an unwritten rule that all Griffins have to have something that makes them suck.

Would have gone great in the old M13 exalted intro pack, now just give him lifelink with the new Whip of Erebos.

People need to stop underestimating flying AND vigilance. Flying means "unblockable" against any monogreen deck, and it's hard to block in any color otherwise, and vigilance means you can attack for 3 flying damage and then block flying damage the next turn. With enchantments that pump it, and there are a couple of those in this format, this becomes a real problem for your opponent.

I had to fight this monster in yesterday's draft and this cast was absurd beyond words.
Basically, you can put as many enchantments as you want on this creature and unless the opponent has enchantment removal or move-card-to-top-of-library effects, this card will simply revive at any threat.
if you are facing a non blue deck, this card will probably win the draft for you granted you have enchantments, as enchantment-removal tends to be neglected in drafts.
This card is very unfun to play against if you are not prepared.

So after drag down killed a griffin forever ago in Conflux, it woke up in Nyx and viola! Hello, Griffin Skeleton. Love the typing!

Flying, vigilance and regeneration is definately a nice combination. You can attack with low chances of getting blocked. And if you attack, you can still block, borth flyers and those without flying. And if something would kill you, you just regenerate.
Still... it's a 3/3 guy for five mana in two colors, and it requires two mana and life to regenerate. All in all it's just too expensive to be useful outside limited (or tribal decks).
Gift of Orzhova gives this +1/+1 and lifelink, allowing it to easily repay you for the life you spend keeping it alive. Hopeful Eidolon provides a similar benefit.

@Splizer Scorpions have exoskeletons. So it would look the same as a regular scorpion except without eyes.
Also: I think we need a ridiculous card called Bonemaster, something that gives all skeletons +2/+2. And I do mean ALL skeletons. I am sick of these "your" effects. The game is more interesting with blanket effects.
Fun fact: currently this is both the only black griffin and the only white skeleton!

@majinara: It probablly was made with limited in mind. Most constructed decks wouldn't use this. But is that a bad thing? Limited players need fodder, too.
@Tudhaliya: changlings would disagree, but im just playing devil's advocate here.
@everyone else upset about the pay life to regen: B/W in theros is the life drain colors. so paying life is really not that big of a deal. you will generally be gaining much more back.

This guy screams for lifelink. Fasten a Hopeful Eidolon to him turn 6 and you have mana open to regenerate him, good curving, particularly in limited.

When I first saw this card, I thought it said Giraffe Skeleton. I was very surprised for a moment, and then I felt vaguely disappointed when I saw what it actually was...
