I didn't play much of Innastrad. Did Walking Corpse break the format?

This could actually be better than the generic bear if you have any enchantments or artifacts that read "Whenever this creature becomes tapped do something useful." This will be able to tap just by playing a removal spell and won't have to risk itself in combat. 3.5/5 for the potential to do something awesome.

I'm sure you can do sick combos with Untap equips!!

I'm sure...

Guys?

Okay... obviously it's no good. But... it's a HORSE that goes crazy when stuff dies and wanders off in the middle of battle to FEAST UPON ITS FLESH. That's AWESOME. It's like in Princess Mononoke when the two giant wolves are riding along with the wounded guy on his back and he falls off and the wolf turns around and starts chewing on him until Mononoke whacks him in the nose with a rolled up newspaper. 5/5 just for that.

Well, it is a bear with a drawback. Whoooo. Admittedly, it isn't all that relevant a drawback, but I'll be sad for the guy who will lose a game of limited due to it.

Depending on how fast Theros'll be, you might want to run it anyway, if your deck is super aggressive. But hopefully not.

(sigh) Diomedes, your horses got away from you again. And it looks like someone's been splicing Sleipnir's genes into them.

For a moment there I was excited about the ability triggering on dieing creatures.
Silly me, expecting that from a 2/2 for 1Black.
(We got Walking Corpse and Tavern Swindler lately, but power creep took a step back for now apparently.)

And thus did the reign of Walking Corpse end. And lo did the community go "The ***?"

The Goblin Test Pilot of the set.

@Domak: A flavor home run, but worthless in an actual game? Yep, that's exactly what it is.

By the way, notice that it has six legs. Why? For the same reason that Brain Weevil's got eight, I guess.

Aww, what's your issue, horse?

So first we get Spitemare, which is an Elemental but not a Horse, and now we get this, which is a Horse but not an Elemental.
Who's in charge of determining a creature's creature type? He needs his pay cut.

A 2/2 for {1}{B} is at common pushing the curve for black, this block is deliberately slowing the format to give the Monstrosity creatures relevance, thus the 2/2 for 2 has to have a drawback.

Worst bear ever.....and feeding that thing is a dirty job.
JimmyNoobPlayer

Ouch. That is one hell of a drawback.

@Tiggurix, IIRC, there was one or more six-legged horses in greek myth.

@Tiggurix I believe that it only has 5 actually.

Equip with Razor Boomerang for the ultimate in mediocrity.

I don't understand why everyone is acting like this is the antichrist. Yes, walking corpse is better but this is made for LIMITED. It's a bear with a mostly negligible drawback in black at common. I'd definitely play it as a 23rd playable. How is this rated SO LOW on the gatherer. Go rate down razor boomerang with your time because that doesn't have a place anywhere.

This is the steed that Norin the Wary rides into battle on.

Well... People say this is a bad card, but really just think of it as a 2 mana Desecration Demon.

I think you guys are being way too harsh on the Steed. Yes, it's a bear with a drawback. It's far from unplayable in limited, where it fits nicely into any black agro deck. Most of the time you don't even notice the drawback because you've tapped it down to attack. Throw it in an agro deck to fill out your curve.

Had to give this +1 for flavor.
It's not for blocking. +2
But, most importantly, +1.5 for creature type horse.

Tarpan commands thee oh, ebony horse, don thy saddlebags, canter and gallop; as thy kind is wont.

I feel like this card was designed to fulfill its own flavor text.

We could make an entirely new type of bad card, but it'll disturb you more if we make yet-another-bear and then staple a horrible, cringe-inducing drawback onto it.

The art, too.

If they had made auras with Inspired, this would have been crazy useful.

Maybe with Into the Nyx.

a winning GP Sac list had 5 of these. goes to show how dreadfully slow and weak Theros is.

In that "choose your own adventure" preview for Harness by Force, for some reason, when you fight Purphoros's Emissary, you can win, yet when you try to fight THIS guy, you just get eaten.
