One of the better Nymphs. Already a bear, and the bestow cost is not too bad.

Also... "Nymph Dryad"? What?

Base bear stats with upside make this one of the best bestow cards.

Dryad is technically a kind of Nymph. Wizards pooed the screwch on this one. Should all dryads be changed to nymph now? I don't know. I'll never know.

The "Dryad" creature type seems unnecessary now that the "Nymph" creature type has been re-introduced. They should just be "Nymphs" now, as that is the more general definition that still includes the "Dryad" definition, in the vein of WotC's earlier actions of turning beetles and butterflies into just "Insects".

By the way, as a dryad, in the noble tradition of dryads within Magic: The Gathering, she should have had Forestwalk, and given the enchanted creature Forestwalk as well, in addition to having and granting Reach. I doubt that it would have made her too powerful.

Finally, I like how her name and abilities seem like a reference to Cloudcrown Oak, at least to me.

The original Dryad was a Nymph in the beginning, but was changed to Dryad during the 7th edition overhaul, primarily because there were no other types of nymph in game and calling them Drayds fit there name more logically. Now Nymphs are back with five varieties and one of them is a Dryad and it just makes it look silly. Dryad should probably be discontinued and all Drayds changed to Nymphs.

Part of Theros' Nymph cycle with:
White Observant Alseid
Blue Nimbus Naiad
Black Cavern Lampad
Red Spearpoint Oread

If I were any of these other four nymphs, I'd be jealous of her for getting a special double type treatment by bearing the creature type Nymph in addition, while neither of them bears the type Alseid, Naiad, Lampad or Oread - just because they aren't as popular Greek mythological beings as Dryads in modern fantasy.

Meanwhile, Shanodin Dryad laughs at their faces on behalf of all Dryads in Magic, who didn't get their type generalized to Nymph. Instead, she got to bear the somewhat tautologous type combination Nymph Dryad like Leafcrown Dryad, already years before Theros and any other Nympths even existed.

Ohhh man I love this card. It's such a reliable means of getting more reach on your side of the field. 2/2 for 2 with reach is already nice, make it 4 and you can give any of your beefy defenders reach, instead. Fantastic card.
