What about this art says "first strike?" If anything it says "defender."

That's an unwieldy Bestow cost. Most Bestow costs are already pretty hefty, but this one is literally double the actual mana cost of the card!

Also, I'm usually against such blatant sexualisation on Magic cards (or in general), but I have to admit that, in the case of the Nymphs, it does make a lot of sense.

The bestow costs on the Nymphs are hefty, particularly this and Lampad, but after using them in limited the effect is so good that a heavy cost is perfectly justified. They're some of the best commons out there and well worth the pick in limited.

didn't we just finish hammering home the same bestow lesson with dredge? it's not something you have to do with the card, it's just a nice little bonus that may suit your purposes better at a different point in the game, making the card a little more versatile.
as for the art, i'd say it does a nice, flavorful job of pointing out that being able to swing a sword (or spearpoint) quickly isn't the only way to get a first strike against someone. case in point, i kicked all of you in the huevos twice before you finished looking at the art. and that's how you win magic.
also, @ tiggurix, it's not literally double, as you still need only one red mana. i dunno why i can't say '***' on this forum, while words like 'literally' and 'strictly' are thrown about without a care in the world....

You know, the Nymph cycle was interesting, but you know what would've made them VERY fun?

Landwalk. Think about it. Every one of them is Landwalk of their respective type. A simple, clean cycle of 2/2s with Landwalk for 2C or 1CC, with Bestow for 4C. Give the keyword abilities to the Emissary cycle.

Bestow costs are high and should be. The creatures themselves are reasonably cost, and the fact that most of them are early game creatures is no coincidence. Bestow is an option, and it presents you with the ability to use a creature early game that does not lose its value late game. Much like how cycling on high costed cards is great. Even if you look at the bestow and say "That is pretty overcosted" that doesn't matter when you topdeck one on turn seven. Versatility is the name of the game here and I think its value seems to be wasted on most newer players. Especially since tournaments lately have been dominated with straight forward powerhouses.

As for the art, seriously people? Keep it in your pants. She is covered by a convenient rocky coating, and even then, the art is more artistic-nude than sexual. (Unlike the horribly distasteful Vampire's Bite) This is what the artistic depiction of nymphs has always been. These comments are just embarrassing to the community as a whole.
