I don't think this card is terrible, nor fantastic. It's pretty powerful though, and deserves a >4 rating, but not 5. I gave it a 5 just so that it would be closer. It's powerful, and i'll be getting it at some point.

Ok, I think at this point it is time for the Lorwyn 5 to cycle out. Maybe some other planeswalkers, like Tamiyo could get the core set spotlight. Not that the L5 are bad, but they've just become a bit stale. And I can't be the only one thinking that

Venser would make a nice mono-blue 'walker too, but wizards had to go and keep that from happening :/

This is, in my opinion, the least interesting planeswalker ever printed. He's just so... boring. And to think they've printed him three times.

EDIT: Yes, he's preferable to the Debt sculptor, but after boy band Jace, is an interesting blue planeswalker too much to ask?

Anime Hair Jace is back, it seems. I would like this card a LOT better if they'd just change that darn illustration!

I grow weary of this Jace. He's good at what he does, but I think it's time for Jace 5.0.

I pulled him and a traumatize at the m14 pre release today. I ended up winning because he is just so powerful in limited.

This plus a few Jace's Erasures could be pretty fun.

You may think mill ten a turn is boring, but anything that ends a control mirror in short order (this, Aetherling) is doing everyone a favor.

My favourite (affordable) Jace gets another reprint? I'll take it! Now, watch Theros block have some Eldrazi graveyard-reshuffling effect in there somewhere…

That would be just my luck…

Got milled to death by this at a prerelease.

This card is a spectacularly useful card in a mill control deck. For that reason it must stop existing.

I actually like this Jace. But, as with Tiggurix, the art just turns me off entirely. Every time I open a pack of M14 I hope it's not one of the 4 or 5 junk rares or the junk mythic AND that it's not Jace-for-kids.

I like this Jace well enough. Is it an exciting reprint? Not particularly, but it's par for the course:

1. They were going to print the Lorwyn 5.
2. There are already 4 versions of Jace, while the other Lorwyn 5 have not all reached that many versions. (Chandra 4, Garruk, 4, Liliana 3, Ajani 3)
3. Reprinting Jace Beleren would have been really odd and out of place. He's also a bit boring compared to today's standard of planeswalkers.
4. Reprinting Jace, the Mind Sculptor would have caused the world to end.
5. Reprinting Jace, Architect of Thought would have been much too soon as they JUST printed him. M14 and RtR will rotate at the same time!

So really, we're left with Jace, Memory Adept. And that's fine with me; I think he's good for the health of the game.

Also, I actually finally pulled him for the first time. That was quite a fun sealed pool, and particularly mean alongside my Scavenging Ooze, so even if you managed to take out Jace, you still had another monster of a card to deal with.

poor jace, becomes most powerfull plainswalker ever. finds out nobody likes him. comes back and is like "this better". everybodys like, no you suck.

personaly i think wizards should just reprint mindsculpter as a rare and say screw standard. but thats just the blue mage inside of me. i already know i will be playing this card. because it has the word jace in the title.

Theros gives us Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver. I see him/her and Jace together in a blue/black mill deck for at least as long as both are in standard.

To understand how ridiculous this guy is in draft, you have to play against it. It comes out, mills for 10 (your library is probably has 10 ish cards left after that) and then if you don't kill it by your opponent's next turn, it either kills you or leaves you very close to just naturally running out of cards.

It is the best card in M14 limited by far.

In Limited, he has a hidden fourth ability: "Target player offers to go to the next game."

This card is insane if you ever do Magic Online's four booster sealed. In that format minimum deck size is 30 cards, rather than the 40 in draft or "normal" sealed, so of course most players go with that number or close to it. Two uses of the second ability will absolutely win you the game. I pretty much won the last event I played in the moment I opened this and put it in my thirty card deck.

I got this in the first booster pack I ever had, but then I was a inexperienced "green" player and traded it off to my play group for a really good deck. Now I run Jace Architect of Thought because I think it's more useful for my play style.

This jace is good and balanced but I would have little use for him in any decks I currently run

You know what is interesting about Jace in STD?

Jace AOT gains advantage from Scry mechanic. (His -2 ability)
Jace Memory Adept, on the other hand, screws the opponent when they just Scry last turn by his first or second ability.

Great card though.

This card really shines in a control mirror matchup. Most of the time these matchup are slow so the mana is no problem. Typically players are sitting there trying to draw into one of the win conditions they have, and being able to draw an extra card each turn is huge in those situations. The second ability total screws with the other person's draw set-ups, if they have any, and can also be a win-con if the game is slow enough. The ultimate? If you can't win after drawing a third of your deck there is something wrong with you.

I do hope this Jace will see a reprint in M15, with a fancy new sticker and border, and all.

The planeswalker for mill decks, ladies and gentlemen.

He does what he's supposed to and a 4 loyalty, +1 to draw walker for 4 mana would be too much.

4.5/5 Not op or so good it's a problem but very good because it does what it's supposed to and it's totally playable.
