The creature looks like he's struggling to not look at Vraska the Unseen.

It's a good thing, unlike almost all other Bloodrush cards, the Bloodrush effect ISN'T half the cost here.
BECAUSE THEN, this'd be pretty sick.
On that note, Bloodrush looks decently similar to Morph, for some reason. I know it doesn't act the same, but... there's just something about it.

Well I'm going to be the first to stick up for this guy, all Timmies unite and defend him! I will be using 2 copies of him in all my ramp/beatdown decks for months to come, he won't always work but once my opponents know of his rushing blood they'll live in cpnstant fear of the late game. A fantastic fatty that will hopefully pave the way for fatter fat yet to come. I'm giving it 5 for being the biggest bloodrusher.

Baring instantaneous removal it is game over with his Bloodrush.

I see no reason to ever hardcast this guy. In any good gruul deck, this should be winning the game for you buy turn 7.

Damn... I really, REALLY want to like him, but I just can't!
He just costs too much. 8 for a 9/9 with trample is practically average for Green now, so by that standard he should be an uncommon, not a rare. But at the same time, being able to bloodrush him is still costing you 7, which could potentially give you a better payout if you have other bloodrush cards in hand.
Yes, +9/+9 and trample is guaranteed to end your opponent, but... by the time you can cast it, it's either going to be a "save my ass" play or a "win more" play.

He's not a "save my ass" play, he's a beat their ass play. No, not their ass-play. That's just weird. He's a play that beats their ass.

This thing is kinda cool. If you have enough mana, hard cast one, then Bloodrush another one onto the the first one. Pretty much a turn 8 one swing win condition.
3.5 because it's so damn expensive to bloodrush.

Fog, pretty much the best 1 mana cmc you can spend against the Gruul.

The idea with this guy isn't that you run 4 of him. It isn't that you hard cast him. You have one of him in a heavy creature deck, prob an aggro one. You try to kill with the other creatures first, but if your opponent starts to mount a defense, you should be able to get this onto on of your creatures to finish the game. When used like that, this is NOT a bad card.
A potential game winner, both bloodrushed and hardcasted. This guy is a Timmy's best friend.

HATE HIM! This fat ******* killed me twice at prerelease in the same match! And now I have two of them I don't want because of the scars from that defeat, the lumbering fat-ass behemoth!!
It's good. Very good. The Bloodrush is uber-powerful.

It's a 9/9 trampler for eight. Even if it's got two green mana symbols in its cost, it's still above the curve.

Man, I would never play him in constructed, but this card did net me a pretty awesome win in draft once. swinging for 17 with 2 creatures. Traitorous act is such a good card. Oh, right, still here. Only casual playable, even then really only in slower multiplayer formats...wayyyy better things to ramp into, really. 2.5

He isn't exactly Standard-playable, but EDH would give him some chance to shine! Just as as an example, he's in my Radha, Heir to Keld deck? She makes his bloodrush effectively cost 3GG.
I'm going to repeat that.
SHE MAKES HIS BLOODRUSH EFFECTIVELY COST 3GG.
Even if Radha doesn't have anything else on her (and if you're playing her in EDH, you'd probably be giving her like Runes of the Deus or something), that's an 11/11 trampler staring them in the face for a turn. If you follow up with Wrecking Ogre next turn, that's a lot of commander damage.

9/9 trample for 8. Thats a big boy, but doesn't really push competitive in todays environment.
Now the bloodrush ability, can strait up win games out of nowhere! Limited BOMB and constructed worthy.

As much as I like how big and stompy he is, I can't help but think of Terra Stomper. It's an 8/8 trample for six mana, and count be countered, which can be a real boon late in a game against blue. I do like his blood rush, but even that still cost's more than good'ol T'Stompa.
