Even the Biomancer in the flavor text realizes this card is underwhelming without anything beyond evolve.

Okay, so normally for Evolve, I've seen creatures that have High toughness as opposed to high Power, but considering this is a turn 5 card that is effectively a 7/3 next turn (how the hell will you NOT play a creature with 3 or more toughness on turn 6 in a Simic deck?) I think it is decent for a common....
Great for a limited play, but I can't wait to Gruesome Spectacle this card when someone plays it, mill them for 6 + cards and still have 2 or 3 mana left over to dick around with~<3

Excellent art and flavor - wouldn't want to run into this in Central Park. Functionally mediocre - its main purpose is enabling Evolve with that sweet 6 power while remaining evolvable with that dreadful 2 toughness. If you can get it to 7/4 or 8/5, you could have a monster on your hands.

Well, you could have frog instead, but then it'd be a 1/1 with no abilities, so you're just gonna have to deal with it.

Sweet common bomb. Gonna get huge in limited.

The 6/2 stats may seem awkward, but a difference in power and toughness is actually advantageous for evolve decks. The high power ensures that other creates will evolve when this is put down and the low toughness allows this guy to evolve himself.

Wow I love this card! It isn't going to see any play outside of limited and casual but it is really good for both. How many times has wizards thrown us just a plain old 6/2 for five mana type card and called it a day? Too many times, but this card has the ability to actually make itself useful and potentially become a huge threat it limited!

Not really a bomb, but I still won't mind seeing it in my limited pool.

A 6/2 for 5-mana is about right for a green common that will never see play unless someone's truly desperate for Limited fodder. I'm not convinced slapping a poorly-designed mechanic on it will cause it to become less unplayable however. I suppose we'll have to see if Evolve makes a splash or if, as I presume, it's merely another unwieldy keyword that says too much and does too little.

Love the flavor text! This card fills a useful role in a Simic deck. The unbalanced stats really drive it; this will evolve almost everything you have out on turn 5, and anything you play afterwards should make it a 7/3, and it still has potential after that.

People shouldn't be so critical on this card, it really lives up to the evolve mechanic both for itself and other creatures and it's a common so you can never expect too much. 3.5/5, great for evolve and easily splashable with some gyre sages out.

Dies to some pretty weak removal, but if it happens to survive you've got a good creature that gets better.

It allows other to evolve, and get's evolved rather easily, but it's mana cost is a detriment. Be sure to run with mana ramp if you want it to be worthwhile. Fair card, but it is above the cost-to-actual effect (where a bear costs for 2/2 vanilla, this, for more has +4 power (already above it) with a keyword), but the actual cost isn't great. I'd almost say this is better in Gruul and Selesnyan decks.

I misjudged this little guy. The 6 power on a five-drop is huge, and he can usually get quite a bit bigger. A Crocanura or Ivy Lane Denizen will get him to 7/3, a Clinging Anemones or Elusive Krasis will get him to 8/4, and a Leyline Phantom will get him to 9/5. This guy starts decent (and will usually evolve some/all of your creatures) and can really get out of hand. Gets really scary with Crowned Ceratok or Sapphire Drake.
Definitely not Constructed-worthy in any sense of the word, but still a decent Limited card.

I never got to attack with him in any limited games so far, but that's because my opponents use a removal spell on him asap. I think that says enough about 6 power with evolve for 5 mana in limited.

Even if he is very likely to die in combat he will evolve all your creatures with its highly coveted 6 power. Additionally many creatures will evolve it thanks to his low toughness. This is the kind of guy that is great with some of the enchantments running around. Though the best part of him is how hard of a time the slower orzhov decks have with him.

This is personally my favorite evolve card. The goal of the play is to make their evolve guys as big as possible and this gets that job done very well. He in turn doesn't need much to grow either since Simic has a decent number of high toughness guys. Does everything you could ever want it to do in your limited Simic deck.

7/3 or better attacking T5 or T6 is hardly bad. No need for an evolve deck. Simply a beast deck with Pulse of the Tangle (Which is probably in there anyway) will make sure he's at least 7/3 when attacking, leaving a blocker, and if you have anything to drop trample on him (you do) then he's hitting for terra stomper levels of trampling power a turn earlier; which is great,
Actually has more function than most people think. Triggers all evolvers that aren't insanely big, works lovely with Prime Speaker Zegana and Spell Rupture, scares them off from attacking with anything important or their only creature. Once in a while you can cast it when your opponent have no creatures, and deal 6 damage while that lasts.
