people who say this card is bad, that there are better ways to ramp must be using it in the wrong deck..

its a great addition to deck parfait, to keep your land count low allowing you to use land tax..especially now that land tax just got unbanned in legacy, its a good replacement for sol ring

This card is amazing. Really shines in a mono deck, when you rarely would get color screwed. Does not come into play tapped, and will tap for . Ramps when you need it to, this is a 5/5 land for me. Balanced and powerful.

I run this in my Landfall deck with Crucible of Worlds, Exploration, Oracle of Mul Daya and Azusa, Lost but Seeking. It's also one of the few targets for Crop Rotation that can slightly ramp you.

I think it's pretty balanced and fun for a {2} mana land that doesn't come into play tapped or cause you massive amounts of damage like Ancient Tomb.

with the help of deathrite shaman , makes for a number of useful plays on your second turn. i was going to list some, but the possibilities overwhelmed me: one black or green mana, plus one of your choice, plus 2 colorless, means a ton of possibilities, maybe before your opponent even has a creature out. nice!
what's more, even without combos, this card allows you to establish/regain that slight mana edge you want/lost in the mid-game arms race. maybe you don't want to sac a land, but it's cool, there will be more lands to draw later, when you need them less
