Play it with Rule of Law. That way the opponent's card advantage will be nearly useless. In order to make this combo efective however, a player will need a strong board of creatures and counter spell in hand.

Arcane Laboratory might be better than Rule of Law with this, you only have to play u/g instead of u/w/g
This card destroyes all get a Cursed Rack too so they will have a little hand at the end of their turn.

This is awesome. A card with two separate Counters that mean more or less the same thing, and that are created at the same time. Yay for counters! Though I guess for someone with unholy ability at counter management, there's likely some combo that will allow the Growth Counters to flourish while keeping the Age Counters down... so it leaves an interesting window open. Still, from a sheer practical aspect, it makes me want to squeal with joy and cry at the same time.

Quite possibly the worst card ever printed, it bleeds the opponent very slowly while giving them massive card advantage and comes out without ramp on turn 5. Of course there are ways to make this work, but there are ways to make any card work. Your better off just using good cards like Lightning bolt that work and all they require is .

Needs a little too much support to warrant a good rating. Costs a lot, and can give your opponent what he needs to gain the advantage.
Not useless, but as a stand alone, gotta hand it a 1.5/5

Wow, When I saw Desolation_masticore's comment I had to log in and say this: Go back to Yu-Gi-Oh you noob. Every card needs to have another to work, A deck that only has Lightning Bolt and mountains can not possibly win, Even Black Lotus needs other cards to work. This may not be good but it can do something (though not well) if you use it with something like Black Vise. In conclusion: No cards can work on it's own, And if you think this is the worst card in the game take a look at Celestial Prism.
This is so bad. I'm a Johnny, don't get me wrong, but it's a five-mana card in two colors that slowly damages your opponent in dribs and drabs while also costing you wads of mana and offering your opponent massive card advantage. Psychic Possession and Plagiarize are options, yes, but they merely mitigate the drawback.

I remember when Mirage came out back in the D. Imagine how it felt getting this card as your rare.

I could see this being another way of killing everyone with a Gilder Bairn. Of course, turning the Gilder Bairn into a machine gun or powering up the Darksteel Reactor is much more practical.

Terrible. Necropotence and Yawgmoth's Bargain prove that trading life for card drawing on a one-to-one basis is fairly degenerate, and this card gives that to the opponent!
Also, why didn't they errata this card to be much simpler and just use the age counters instead of growth counters, since the number of counters are the same?

Gotta side with the haters on this one... If this thing cost 3BB the player who cast it would get the cards and the damage. It also would have been a decent card then!
