Wizards mistook enthusiasm for the Baleful Strix and Sakashima's Student as enthusiasm for Vela. There aren't many other expalanations.
I would say 'oh and this color combination has few good Generals'-- but that's patently false thanks to Dimir and that Dralnu guy.

Dammit, every time I throw down this lady in that Ninja deck something always goes horribly wrong. Maybe I'm cursed or something.
Still, those colours and the first ability aren't too bad for an artifact based deck. Even provides for both Tezzerets.

Wish there were more useful cards in this package to justify the high pricetag. They just printed a lot of these duders in the past year. Why not have actual gems like Gauntlet of Might, All is Dust, Sensei's Divining Top, Vindicate, stuff people actually play in commander games? As far as I'm concerned, this 'arsenal' is a bit dissapointing.

A Commander that just plain got put into the wrong (Ninjitsu) deck. Try a surprise win con in your Oona, Queen of the Fae deck with your Omniscience and Cloudstone Curio on the board. She could also get your little Faeries you spit out from the Oona mill to do some damage with Intimidate..?

Vela is hugely under-appreciated and under-estimated. Your creatures only have to LEAVE the battlefield in order for her final ability to take effect, so she works with sacrificing, bouncing, blinking, exiling and good ol' death. She makes opponents hesitate with their sweepers while having synergy with your own. She's outstanding in a deck that uses creatures with "enters/leaves the battlefield" abilities, especially if you can bounce or blink your creatures.

If you want a general in Ninja EDH you look no further than Sygg, River Cutthroat. try it, you'll thank me.

From now on, whenever I see a UB deck, I think of ninjas...

Pretty much the only thing that triggers off of other things leaving the battlefield rather than dying. I wish that ability was on a different card without the intimidate effect so I could use it in a blink/"exile it instead" deck. Blood artist is 2 mana and procs off anything dying and gives you life (although it is "target player" not "each player"). Oh well, it was not to be.

@ DarthParallax Actually, I'm quite convinced the reason was to print that artwork with the ftv-hyperfoil.
