@theDAYtheMUSICdied: Check out Sorrow's Path. Nothing worse than that one. As crappy as Sheltered Valley is, it at least this produces mana...

It's like they were afraid to call it a Legendary land. I know, it's not quite the same effect (both you and your opponents can have sheltered valleys) but still...
Plus, they put that downside on a card that already sucks: who wants to be stuck at 3 lands just for 1 life a turn?

First turn drop, by turn three it's already netted you 3 life. Amazing artwork too.

I used to put in in my Geddon deck.. which can work at 3 lands. I just removed it because of the prohibitive WW costs of weenie white.

Meh, Karn EDH might as well run it. May net a free piece of life...

Such a shame, nice art though so it gets a 1.0

Just run a single one in your deck. It'll help you survive in times when you're stuck on three lands, and if nothing else, it earns you 3 life? It's not good, but if your're running artifacts or something of the sort, you might as well include a copy of this card...

if it produced green mana, I could almost see it being played (albeit seldomly) considering you can get plenty of yield from green's acceleration at 2-3 mana. but it doesn't, which is why it sucks.

Had to rate it a 4 for artwork. It's a shame it's such a bad card. D:

The drawback is especially funny, given that this only works when you have few lands anyway. If you only have three lands out, chances are that this wouldn't be two of them.
However, the max you would ever want in play at once is three, and then you'd have no colored mana. sigh

This is a great land to play as a singleton in any deck, that is not heavily contingent on coloured mana sources. It comes into play untapped and can buffer your mana a bit. In slow control decks it nets more life than you'd think. For a land that comes into play untapped, with no drawbacks at all, and gives a colourless mana from the get go, its pretty good. the rest of you are expecting too much

this could have been broken you know-
if it had been Legendary instead, Mirror Hall would break it!
1 life a turn with one out.. 2 with 2 out 3 with 3!
every turn, you can play cmc 3 artifacts, and you gain 3 life.
Skullclamp, Black Lotus, Moxen, Ornithopters, Sensei's Divining Top, Memnites, Arcbound Ravagers, Phyrexian Dreadnoughts, and Swords of Mirrodin would all be useable in that deck.
GREAT CALL WIZARDS DEVELOPMENT! YOU SAVED US FROM A TERRIFYING DECK LOADED WITH CHEAP ARTIFACTS! THANK YOU FOR PREDICTING MIRROR HALL'S CREATION!

One of the worst lands ever made (but not THE worst, we all know what that is). WotC vastly overestimated the value of gaining 1 life per turn. The willingness of players to lose life every turn for Necropotence should have hinted at how weak this card would be.

Oh come now, guys, it's not that bad. It doesn't come into play tapped. Honestly, it's just very mediocre. It doesn't improve your mana to run multiples but you could run a single one in a deck based around lifegain effects like Ajani's Pridemate or something.

Honestly... this isn't really all that bad... not that great, but at least useful depending on how you look at it. Sure, it only produces colorless mana, but if you run only one of it, it needs no sacking, it comes in untapped, and if played early game you will have amassed a bit of life too. Useful in EDH when you have a colorless general, and can only run colorless lands that produce colorless mana, without any of the 5 basic land colors on them, as those are a bit of a pain in the ass to find. ~_~

I, for the life of me, cannot figure out why people don't like this. I keep looking for a real drawback to running 1 in any deck, but aside from the colorless mana I don't see it.
Many decks run curves of 3 mana or less with spells not being color intensive; in any deck that occasionally gets mana-screwed, wastelanded, etc, this guy nets you as much as 5-10 life over the course of a game.
Won't happen that often as a 1-2 of in your deck; but it's really not that bad for being "legendary" and colorless. 2-stars does not do this justice. As a 1-of in pox? You'll be gaining health all game to replace the life you're slowly sapping.

Yeah, calling this one of the "worst lands ever" is kind of a joke. Not great for certain, but comes into play untapped and produces mana. Those alone qualify it as "fine" at least.

Don't run it with colours. Drawback eliminated. Yeah sure, the 1 life isn't a huge deal, but in an all artifact deck it's 100% upside. IT'S NOT A BAD CARD. 3.5/5

Oh my... that art is absolutely stunning. I wish I could get Rob Alexander to draw me a large version of this... The older non-basic land borders are a nice colour, and they work well with this. Undiscovered Paradise is another land that works well.
Ability-wise, at least it doesn't come into play tapped. A little bit of life can make or break a game. Otherwise, you may be better with just a basic land.
